Please don't edit the sheet after the deadline or you will lose the match.

News and Whatnot

New Rulings - Courtroom
The following rulings were voted for by MWB, Zevox, Telin, crazy, and Erithmu. Sauro voted against.
[list]
[*]You can not find invisible creatures merely by moving through thier square- they can merely opt to let you pass by. The only exception is if you end movement in the same square as an invisible creature- you will then effectively know an invisible creature was there because you will be "moved" to the last legal square you occupied.
[*]A Shadowdancer/Assassin's HiPS does not require concealment or cover to use- it merely requires a shadow nearby that is not their own. This shadow does not have to be visible to the observer or even grant any sort of concealment itself.

[/list]

The Council Decisions/Revelations

Current Topics
  • Courtroom - Sauro wishes an elder decision on using an intelligent cohort as a mount. [and what tricks/training it requires]
  • Council - There is a discussion on how quickly you should be able to aquire ethereal equipment.
  • Courtroom- The rules for Ride and Handle Animal are under discussion.

Idle Conversations

These are topics that have died down but had nothing come of them. Personally? I blame the terrorists.
  • Council - Mechanics of the "Awaken" spell is currently being discussed in the council.
  • Courtroom- Good grief, we're talking about the Bag of Tricks again. Sooner or later Lelenia will level enough that we can put these discussions behind us. :-)
  • Council- Delay rules are still being discussed.

[post=15746737]Gakhnalak Strongjaw (MindWandererB) vs Thiel's Loyal Retainers (Erithmu, SauroGrenom)[/post] is up. Still need to add rewards - but wanted to get the fight up.

@MWB - I had some confusion about how you wanted to proceed (whether leaving Blurgta behind or moving ahead of her) - I decided to keep with her until sight was established and then rush in. I'm sorry if this is not what you intended, but I don't see anything in your tactics to indicate either way.

Also - I wasn't sure if I read your buffing rounds correctly - though I suspect it wouldn't really change much (since they mostly got dispelled anyway).

Please let me know if there are any issues with the fight.

mekhoar (tunagolem) and Orgauth (dulsi) vs. Ralein DreamstrikerECL 6 (Callix) is Done - small reccomendation - being spesific and clear in your tactics helps...

Thanks for the run. I tried to keep things clear, if not simple.

The link to the roller is missing; the correct link is here.

Ralein's Free Activity is Profession (Butcher) for 120 gp, not Guard.

As far as I know, impromptu teams don't automatically start in the same square. It doesn't matter, as Ralein was actually helped by this (forcing Mekhoar into melee makes me almost unhittable with dodge).

@Tunagolem: Change the forum skin you're using. As odd as it sounds, the bug only affects the "Wizards Community Default" skin.

As far as I know, impromptu teams don't automatically start in the same square.

That one was changed not to long ago, since it delivers a big disadvantage to the team not starting within the same square, and almost always ends up in two pairs of tactics be written
a) if we start in the same square
b) if not.

it makes the pitlord's tactic-reading unneccessarily hard, and also tactics writing is harder. that's why there was that elder-decision against separate starting squares.

they do - due to a recent rules change and your tactics were alright - they were clear - i meant my comment more to your opponents (1 of them).

[post=15780505]Uguudok vs 1 Wyrmling Blue Dragon[/post] is up. Note to self: Do not antagonise creatures with a 100ft fly speed and twice your hit dice.

EDIT: I have a question regarding the Lorian vs Owen fight. Lorian has prebuffed his Ring of Invisibility, but the item references the spell, which has a duration of 1 minute/level. The item has a CL of 3, so there's no way the prebuff can survive the time roll. Does Lorian start invisible? It rather dramatically affects the fight.

At Will and Permanency: "At will" abilities or renewable effects (like a Ring of Invisibility) can be pre-buffed with. Effects with a duration of "permanent" must be listed under the Pre-buff section and also be listed as part of your equipment. They do not count against your available spell levels per fight nor against your prebuffs. An exception is the Polymorph Any Object spell (see Rules: Miscellaneous).

QED.

ninja'd!

due to coco rules, any effect that can be done as "at will" can be prebuffed. i don't like that rule, but it is present. so lorian _can_ start invisible.

when creating the rules, it was assumed that in the waiting time, you could simply switch on the ring every minute.

QED.

Thank you. That was slowing up the fight significantly.

@Whitebaron: Were you going to send tactics for this week's playtest? I can't seem to find them, so if you could resend tham, that'd be great.

EDIT: @Templer10: PM sent. A quick response would be appreciated.

Ouch, I'm not sure what I could have done to avoid that
I sent in tactics blind since I didn't think I had the necessary skills to gain any information anyway. Thanks Callix, sorry about my confusion with scrolls. . .

@Callix: just curios: in the Lord Lorian vs Owen fight, shouldnt Lord Lorian break his invisibility in round 1 by manifesting the telekinetic maneuver? Dunno if that would change anything.

It doesn't. I wrote tactics poorly and I didn't have Nest go for any offensive spells. I needed something like Nest casting Stinking cloud in there to be effective (and it would have since he wouldn't have been able to switch it to his psi crystal).

psicrystals only have sight out to 40'.[and then it just stops] Why would it be able to maintain a power on you? it looks like it was more than 40' away at all times, so the Telekinetic Manuver should stop the moment Lorian moves it to his psicrystal. [no LOS on target]

Sighted (Ex): Although it has no physical sensory organs, a psicrystal can telepathically sense its environment as well as a creature with normal vision and hearing. Darkness (even supernatural darkness) is irrelevant, as are areas of supernatural silence, though a psicrystal still can’t discern invisible or ethereal beings. A psicrystal’s sighted range is 40 feet.

Also, TK Maneuver doesn't make an attack roll, so I thought it wouldn't break invisibility. As it won't affect anything, I won't edit, but I would like to know for future reference.

Magic Missiles also dont require an attack roll...

Its the offensive action that counts.

I think you missed my comment. (see above two or three posts). The Telekinetic manuver would have been toasted the moment lorian changed concentration to the psicrystal.

Should be 8.3333 on the Pegasus (CR4/Max 12 *.25 = 8.333)

So ... Lorian: 43+25-8.333 = 59.667
Owen: 13+8.333 = 21.333

As far as I know, you don't need line-of-sight to concentrate on a power. I think you just need line-of-effect. I could be missing a rule somewhere, though...

If you click on [post=15786522]this[/post] link - can you edit?

In any case, I think these are the rewards - since I want to have Dentik crafting I figured I would do them up real quick:

Dentik loses and gains 600xp +12.5% (-12.5% (elementals) + 25% (horse and hippogriff)) = 675xp / 750gp.
Dentik's on his third fight and used no expendables.

Korwald wins and gains 1800xp + 30.5% (-25% (horse and hippogriff) + 12.5% (elementals) + 18% (politics) = 2349xp / 2610gp.
Time Between Fights: 3 hrs
Prebuffs/Ongoing Effects:
Items Used: Scroll of Bull's Strength (CL3), Scroll of Bless (CL2),
Spells or Powerpoints Used: Divine Favor
x/day Abilities Used: Defensive Precognition PLA, Force Screen PLA,
Free Activity: Profession + 146.28gp
