| #1mcjarvisApr 09, 2008 13:56:47 | Please don't edit the sheet after the deadline or you will lose the match. Rules of Gladius All that you need to know is written in the [THREAD=448520]Rules of Gladius[/THREAD]. It could be useful also to give a look to the Court Decisions [POST=14575819]Part 1[/POST] and [POST=14575828]Part 2[/POST]. Please do not make fake accounts or insult the Elders. New idea: let's not insult anyone, ok? ![]() Pairings GM MindWandererB will pair the active [POST=15204503]Characters of Gladius[/POST] after the deadline. Link to pairings. Make sure that your character is not in [thread=965489]prison[/thread]. Pitlording You should use the CoCo Dice Roller for the fight. If you need it, there is a nice [THREAD=551175]template[/THREAD] ready to use that will help. You could find the Battle Map Tag Generator for dynamic [POST=7974958]Maps[/POST] very useful. You must post a link to your fight in this thread when it is complete. If you need a quick and dirty tool to calculate distances between two points (in 2-D or 3-D), this tool should suffice. Another useful link is the [POST=6469706]Quick Access tables for XP and Gold[/POST]. If a fight needs to be rerun, the Pitlord has to inform the Pitlords account. He cannot react to requests from Players because the other player and the pitlord might disagree. He has no time to read the fight and the discussion. Please keep that in mind. PMs from players with rerun requests won't have an impact. Comments & Concerns Post any comments or concerns for this weeks fights in this thread. Be kind and courteous to your fellow posters, and don't feed the pitlords. Please remember that they do hard work and consume a lot of time to let you play. Above all, have FUN! If you have questions or comments on any of the changes, please make your posts be heard in the Council of Gladius! |

| #47mcjarvisApr 11, 2008 12:06:55 | Sauro - taactics for the dark one are out. Take your time. I won't be getting to the fight until Sunday afternoon at earliest. |
| #48magicchocoApr 11, 2008 12:22:12 | Ah. Must've missed the pricing part.[post=15583170]Thanio vs. Volley[/post] is up Well, Volley was supposed to start reading bowshots after the hiding started, but as I failed to really specify any sort trigger for the shots... Nope. Looks good to me. ![]() |
| #49TelinArthoApr 11, 2008 13:32:10 | Made some edits to the Darian vs Gak fight. Highlight: Did not move Darian out into the open (I don't know why I did - you clearly didn't want to do that...). As a result - Gak just started attacking Xander rather than try to move around him. This means that while Darian gets to summoning one round earlier - Gak also kills Xander one round earlier. I still had Gak base Darian rather than try to engage with the guisarme - since his intent was to keep Darian close - and if he didn't do it this way, Darian could just withdraw safely. The end was still the Energy current. No change to resources used or to the result. I recognize that the end of the fight is a relative mess - I apologize for that now... |
| #82salrantolApr 13, 2008 17:34:31 | @Yitzi: Can I assume from the following line in the roller that you're waiting to hear from Callix about whether Blind Petyr will surrender?Petyr Fort save 1d20+5=13 |
| #83YitziApr 13, 2008 22:40:05 | Not anymore. I got it, and he did. The fight is up [post=15606160]here[/post]. The maps don't show everyone-you've got too many allies. Just use the coordinates to try to get it. |
| #84callixApr 14, 2008 1:51:40 | Poison is a touch spell, and thus the charge on it cannot be held while casting other spells or touching items (such as scrolls). In this case, I was intending to carry the charge on the bite attack. Howler's familiar Worm uses this quite often, though Worm doesn't have hands to carry a charge. If the spell must cover the entire body, why doesn't it immediately affect carried equipment? Still, I'll keep it in mind for future reference. As you'll notice, Ursula didn't actually hit with any physical attacks, so it didn't matter in the end. The buffs could be reordered with no fight-affecting results. |
| #85hogarthApr 14, 2008 5:39:16 | While it is true you can not cast spells for sure- I think it would be better if we didn't open the can of worms that contains the "how much other stuff you can do" discussion. What if I designate my pinky to be the touching device for the spell & then merely handle the scroll dainty-like? No...I think it's better if we just assume infinite dexterity in this regard, else pitlords will constantly have to make judgement calls on just "how much you can touch" The problem is that both solutions you list contradict the rule: touching anything discharges the spell. To me the intent is clear: once you cast the spell, you can keep trying again and again to touch your target without penalty, but you can't prebuff a touch spell and then draw weapons, tie your shoelaces, pet your cat, etc. I don't see what's wrong with that. |

This has all been said before and will be said again- but by the strict rules all spells would be discharged immediately so long as you are touching anything. A strict reading of the rules is impossible, and a houserule is necessary either way. Since you can effectively discharge a touch spell with parts of your body that are not your hand(hands are never mentioned), I would say it's perfectly reasonable to say gladiators can hold whatever in their hands. |
| #87crazyartificerApr 14, 2008 8:05:16 | Team fightis up. Waiting for rewards until the fight is accepted ![]() |
| #88mcjarvisApr 14, 2008 8:07:44 | Team fightis up. I guess you can disregard the PM I sent you about dive attacks ![]() Comments forthcoming. edit- Thorell is using a wand, so drawing it doesn't provoke AoO's [to my knowledge]. I don't think this will affect the fight, though. edit2- I certainly have no objections, but I'm not sure where the minau readying to cast fireball came in, unless you just decided that scorching ray was unrealistic range-wise. [or unless I left in a relic of other sets of tactics I wrote, since at one point readying to cast fireball was in my mind...] |
| #89turansonApr 14, 2008 8:20:32 | looks good to me |
| #90turansonApr 14, 2008 8:55:19 | @Sjiggie: I've made a simulation of the fight and sent you a Pm let me know what you think |
| #91sjiggieApr 14, 2008 9:17:01 | Thanks for the simulation. It turns out I needed some more time to get those final shots in. Let the fight stands as it is. Thans for the run Sjiggie |
| #92turansonApr 14, 2008 9:35:20 | your welcome |
| #93crazyartificerApr 14, 2008 10:23:34 | I guess you can disregard the PM I sent you about dive attacks My fault, I didn't bother to check and I assumed it was a scroll. edit2- Minaeu: 1) Wait until Thorell begins his attack sequence. 2) Scorching Ray[memory, cl6] is how Minaeu will break his invisibility. Wait until Korwald attacks Thorell- if it is a melee attack, scorching ray korwald's mount. If it is a range attack, scorching ray raelin. If none of these situations apply- go to 3). 3) fireball[memory, cl6] korwald's mount(& korwald too). If korwald's mount is dead, fireball raelen. If raelin is dead too, fireball korwald. 4) Start with magic missile from memory[cl6], then change to magic missile wand[cl1]. Magic missile korwald's mount until it is dead. If it is dead, magic missile raelin until he is dead. If both are already dead, skip this step. 5) Shocking grasp. Go shocking grasp korwald. Do this as many times as possible. 6) Feel pity for pitlord, draw crossbow & start firing away. I assumed that he wanted to cast either Scorching Ray or Fireball.. he already saw Korwald fly around some times and to cast a fireball it was better to ready one. I agree that it's not mentioned in the tactics and I probably made a mistake here. If lonewolf complains the readied fireball will be skipped. |
| #94TelinArthoApr 14, 2008 10:25:12 | @Turanson - rewards are off by a tiny bit for Gradak/Dentik:Dentik wins! and gains 1249,5 xp and 1332,8 gp Dentik has 2 CR1 allies and a MaxCA of 3 - so he has a penalty of (2/3)*25% = 16.66667% Dentik gains 1500xp - 16.66667% = 1250xp. GP is 1.0666667gp/xp = 1333gp. Likewise, Gradak should gains 500xp +16.666667% = 583xp and 622gp. |
| #122TelinArthoApr 15, 2008 8:49:51 | Ok, despite having the CR wrong I still thought the calculations were different. That is an error - if he brought in his own maximum - he faces the maximum penalty for it. -25% for Korwald; +12.5% for each member of the opposing team. @McJ - I believe you mean "mekhoar" not "dulsi" above... |
