I'm sure this is one of those things that people are going to love or hate.  Personally, I think it made of pure and unadulterated awesome, and can't wait to use it on a group of hapless players.

Okay, just to be clear, you do realize that the cactus is not the zombie, right?

Kind of like the Yellow Musk Creeper, right? That plant that turns humanoids into zombies.

"OH LOOK ITS A LIVING STALAGMITE, WITH RAPING TENTACLES AND A SHARK JAW!"

long live the Roper! a CLASSIC monster if i may add.

living stalagmite with tentacles and shark jaw in a scarce cave = murdering cactus with undead minions in a scarce desert

Doppelgangers (or "changelings" if you wish)
... can easily appear as a Cactus of whatever variety.

There are any number of ways to get yourself turned into a Zombie in 4e.
Not that this is a good idea. You die basically at the first crit on you.
But that's OK, because you are a Role-Player.
You can role play super builds.
You can role play sucky builds.
It doesn't matter because you CAN roleplay.
Even the president said "Yes You Can!"

Now Cactus + Zombie ... umm ... I haven't figured that out yet.

Doples and Changelings can only turn into other humanoids of the same size.

The Zombie Cactus was from 2e. It's named after the effect its fruits have on its victims.
