#1 nimblegrund Mar 04, 2010 1:22:12	This is rampant speculation on my part, but one thing of note from the playtest characters is that they are all Unaligned, with the exception of the Illusionist, who is Good. So this got me to thinking... In the past it wasn't "Lawful Good" that was the most "noble" alignment in Dark Sun.  It was "Chaotic Good".  This was because the social order of Athas is almost entirely corrupt.  Slavery, evil Despots ruling the land, etc.  Dark Sun is a land ripe for revolution, and the PC's are the vehicle for that revolution.  This is defintiely a setting that leans toward Chaos as being preferable to Law. So could we be seeing a reintroduction of Chaotic Good, and it's diametric opposite, Lawful Evil?  Thoughts?

Alignment doesn't play a major role in the game any more (bye bye detect Evil!). But in some ways, the old Lawful Good will probably be merged into the 4e "Unaligned", while the old Chaotic Good and Neutral Good will be Dark Sun 4e's "Good". For some DMs, it could also be as simple as: You actively move to abolish slavery or work to dethrone the SKs: you're good. You actively participate in slavery or work with the SKs: you're bad. Else: Unaligned.
