They are the first 4e 'tiny' race. I seem to recall about 14 months ago people being mad that the half giant isn't 'large' anymore. Well, if WotC can make rules for a tiny race, maybe we should brainstorm out a large race. This is one thing 3/3.5 handled well... 4e didn't like races other than medium or small. Taking the goliath as a starting point makes the most sense to me. Just make it large and give it toughness as a bonus feat. The penalty to having more HP for free would be being large. Having to 'squeeze' through doorways often, paying more gp for armor/weapons, requiring huge mounts... I think first off, large weapons should be 1 damage die higher, and more 'swingy'. 1d8 becomes 1d10, not 2d4. Large gear should cost more. Or, large PCs can use 2 handed weapons one-handed. (Maul and shield for your warden? ). Anyway, have any of you already done this? (perhaps out of anger that half-giants are not big dudes anymore). I personally like the idea of more varied size in PCs...it allows for really fantastic (Jim Henson), and less LotR looking parties. I don't think I'll be allowing Pixies on Athas tho. |

Wyan of Bodach dealt with that during his cleansing. No worries ![]() As far as making Half-Giants LARGE, in my opinion it changes a lot for the player, since Large creatures don't move the same way as Medium. There are also a bunch of rules that play with the idea of Large Creatures. For a more advanced player I would probably allow it, but if the player pulled off too many exploits with his size I might have to dial it back. |

I was reading athas.org before then. I said to my D&D-liking friends that I'll be DMing a 4e DS campaign. And, everyone wanted in. So, (at one point) I even allowed a warforged. Reskinned big time, of course. Someone will want to play a pixie...I just know it. LOL. I tend to DM with anyone. Until $#!+ falls apart. I do think that the penalties for being large balance the extra damage...And being a large PC doesn't have to be the same as being a large monster. But, something should be done. 4e tiny pixies. |
