#1 RalofTyr Jan 28, 2011 18:46:42	We all know that DS cannon has any SK is also a Dragon-King*.   Now, there are alternates to a SK. The most obvious are Avagion-Kings and Elemental-Kings, but there are other types. Druid-Kings that are on their way to being a Spirit of the Land have a lot of potential.  They could rule a city and the surrounding verdant-belt and manage the human population to balance out and create a sort of utopia.  In a desert world, a Water Elemental-King would be a savior and the life-blood of a city. A Kaisharga could make an excellent SK, especially a former templar like the ones from Ur-Draxa. A templar would make a great SK; though, he's a servant of another SK, he is in power in a city and acts as it's ruler.  Though, the SK master, Dragon-King or otherwise must keep an eye on him to ensure he doesn't go mad with power and threaten his rule. Or a wizard or possessor of a magic item that drains spells from other SKs and lets him use it for his own city. Perhaps it gives prayer requests to a few SK kings which grant them based on the mistaken belief it's one of their templars praying. A psionists would make a fine SK and create a society similar to the one in 1984; the Last Sea region is loosely based off of that. Sleeping Dragon or imprisoned Avangion; a less-powerful being has captured or able to use the powers of a greater-being they have in possession. Finally, an actual Sorcerer as a King; this is difficult; a wizard has to devote a lot of time to spells and not necessarily being a ruler. This is why you often have wizards as magical advisors and mere mortals as rulers.  Some are powerful wizards that can do great magic, but they have little understanding or cunning to rule other humans. What's most important, that Athas is so devestated that, the one with the power to grant survival, has a lot of power indeed.  A water-cleric is very valuable and the presence of one means whether or not a village will survive. *Yeah, I know about Kurn and Guistinal and the Last Sea.
