I had each member of my group add one element to their background at my request, I asked them each to come up with some reason they wanted a particularly nasty and corrupt templar of Kalak dead. I then had them assembled by another person who wanted this same templar dead (their patron was a former merchant from a minor house, and said house was destroyed by the actions of said templar, and most of the members executed for treason or enslaved). They were then sent to hunt him down through the streets of Tyr. He got away and slipped out of the city, next week they are going to try to catch him in the desert before he reaches sanctuary with allies in Urik. It was a lot of fun, my favorite moment was when the group's psion killed his chief bodyguard with another one of his bodyguards (using Living Missle). It's just the kind of moment I could see in a movie:
For all the drama of late regarding Essentials and the lack of updates, it was fantatstic just to sit down to one of the best games I have played in a long time and be reminded of what I love about the game.
So, I've been waiting with bated breath since Dark Sun was announced to finally run a game of it. I WOULD have run it in August, but the DS books came out right at a time when most of my group was out of town for various reasons for a couple of weeks. But finally tonight, I got to run it. It.
