I'm aware of them, and I'm working to fix

Longer story is that I've been suffering from a slowly dying hard drive, and I think it's decided to stop taking it's time.  I've been working to pull the data and configs off the drive and onto a new system.  Hopefully, it'll all be done with by the end of the weekend.

Belive me, if I could actually reproduce it, I'd fix it.

It's sort of a non-issue at the moment, however.

Timeline looks like I'll have new ground under my feet Monday or Tuesday.

Please sir, pleeeaase, fix athas.org.  The site has been down for about a week. I still run 3.5 Dark Sun and athas.org is invaluable to me and I'm sure many many others.  This isn't written with anger or disrespect in mind, and I know you cannot devote your entire life to the site.  Just know that I will be over-joyed when the site is back and working.

Any news on a possible fix for Athas.org or when we can expect to see it back online?  Is there a backup for the athas.org PDFs?

Darth, you looking for one of them specifically?  Because I'm not aware of a mirrored site.

well, I can't speak for Darth, but I am looking for Terrors of Athas. If anyone can send me a copy via email, I would be very thankful.  PM if you can and I'll send you my email.

Yes, athas.org is very, very down.

I'm working on it, and I'm growing more than a little frustrated with the current situation.

Basically, I've been hosting athas.org off an older server for a couple of years now.  It's a dedicated server that's being hosted in a friends (mini) data center -- basically, I've managed to freeload bandwidth for the last several years, and athas.org has cost me nothing but time.

Over the summer, I started experiencing hard drive problems; I pulled down the data that I could, and started working on building a new drive.    Turns out that the hard drive wasn't the only bit of hardware having problems; the motherboard was on it's way south as well.

So,  the same friend that's been hosting me is working on building a virtual machine host, for some of his own domains and told me he'd just shift me over there.  Unfortunately, it's taken him far longer to rebuild that system than we had originally thought.  Seems like it's been one massive problem after another.

I'm currently assessing other options as far as hosting, if need be.  There's a lot of other stuff that was running on that server -- some other sites, some services for athas.org, and a lot of old data.   It's unfortunately not as simple as finding a host for a single site, or it would have been back online a while ago.

One way or another though,  I'm going to get the site back up by next weekend, because this has just been _too_ ridiculous.  I'll figure out how to extract the rest later, if I have too.

Yeah I've got it, you can reach me at phoenixmerrick@comcast.net I'll send a zipped version back up the line to you. That is if Flip and Co. have no problem with it.

It is now up, although i still want to hold off on any grand celebrations ...  There are still some kinks to work out.

Prime among them is that the database keeps getting shut down.  I don't want to say it's fixed until I figure out what in blazes is going on ... I don't belive it's a problem with athas.org, but with another site hosted in the same env.  I'm talking with the maintainer to try and figure out what's going on.

Might one of those kinks be the inability for IE users to log in to the Arena? Cry

It's an issue, but it's unreleated.  An update _before_ all these hard drive problems more or less broke the authentication setup I had in place for the arena.  I, personally, have been unable to reproduce the authentication problem, and there have been larger problems lately.

I'll be digging into the arena problems as I get time to breathe.  If you're having authentication problems and are willing to help me debug, get me some contact information.
