Geez, on this only board, the darksun one, there is (sorry for the others I can't remember) at least 4 very actives french Quebec peoples around! Jihun-Nish, Shei-nad, Pennarin and your very friendly neighborhood silly frog.

Be careful, you are beeing assimilated

The Quebec will restart the Darksun campaign setting and put it back on the map, HURRAY QUEBEC !

If you look carefully at the map and add water here and there, the Tablelands and the Estuary is actually the St-Lawrence River and the Quebec landmass.

Far out! Look it out...

This is really funny as I jst saw that Pennarin was from Rimouski in another thread, and I was going to start a thread along the same lines as this one!

It is kind of weird, isn't it? 4 people from Quebec, and I don't remember seeing anyone from english Canada. Also, there aren't that many people here in the first place, or at least, not that many who post as often as us... Hmm... We'd need an anthropologist to figure this one out... ;)

As for Cyrus's political question, Quebec, as in all of those living in Quebec, never wanted to seperate from canada, except in the early 90s, right before the '95 50/50 referendum on the question. Right now, surveys on are only about 40% in favor of separation. However, French Canadians living in Quebec (which represents about 85% of its population) have been majoritarily in favor of separation (called sovereignty here) ever since the 80s, with as many as 70% of them in favor of it around '92.

Heh. Weird talking about that here! ;) Well, that's for your crash course in Quebec politics and separatism!

I spent three and a half overly long years on K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base just outside of Marquette in the Upper Pininsula. I'll give proper amounts of respect to any group of people that can put up with that kind of weather. Speaking about translation of DS 3.5... that's an idea...why not? It could enlarge the audience of Athas.org... and it seems that's a lot of people here are able to do this...

Please forgive the incredible political incorrectness (sp?) of the following, which requires some maturity at least, and please do not take offense, its ONLY A JOKE!

You know, with all these people coming from Quebec, and those who wish to join our glorious status who even number themselves, and all that talk of Quebec people ruling, I had an idea with an Athasian feel ;)

Now, let us use our mighty powers of bilinguilism, left-winged politics and alcohol tolerance against the degenarate races of the red-white-and-blue age! I call for the Cleansing Wars! Let us enter a New and Glorious Age... the BLUE Age!!! :D

We should be the Champions of Quebec!

Shei-Nad, First Champion of Quebec, War-bringer and the American Annihilator. I'll american-history-class your youth to death!

Grummore, Second Champion of Quebec, the English Canada Exterminator. He'll continue Trudeau's work by shoving french down their throats until they can't breath anymore!

Jihun-Nish, Third Champion of Quebec, the Butcher of the British, will finally rid us of the Monarchy and her posh subjects by overexposing them to crown scandals!

Pennarin, Fourth Champion of Quebec, the French Flamer, will spell the doom of the maudits francais, using Quebec French, not France French!

Gab, Fifth Champion of Quebec, the Acadian Assimilator, who instead of cleansing his kindred, will bring them into the fold of Quebec!

Cyrus, Sixth Champion of Quebec, the Ravager of Russians, because his american origins give him some familiarity with fighting those... :p

NytCrwlr, Seventh Champion of Quebec, the Other Countries Ostraciser, because I'm running out of ideas, and since he is head of the monsters conversions here, he knows how to find unnumbered kinds of abominations ;)

Join the Cleansing Wars! Let us return usher in the Blue Age!

:D

Ok, now lets see how long my post will last... ;)

...and so the war-bringer crafted three mighty weapons for his most trusted champions. And they were called

-The Quebec French speaker, a weapon which strips its victim of every language except Quebec French

-The Canadian wood bat, a simple (but effective) club. You can beat people with it. Nothing else. But it works.

-The Scourge of Jon, a mighty sword which makes its wielder immune to lightning bolts.

Beware, Oracle, lest ye incur the wrath of the Champions of Quebec...

And to prepare for that contingency:

I, Shei-Nad, War Bringer, First Champion of Quebec and American Annihilator, knight our female and acadian counterpart a Champion in her own. From this time forward, thou shall be known as:

Sonja, 8th Champion of Quebec, The Slayer of Scandinavians.

Arise to your Champion rank, sister in arms! Let none stand in our way!

But be warned, young champion, that your prey is dangerous, and their oracle weilds the power of the Lightning. But you shall not go into battle unarmed and unprepared.

Behold, for deep into the recesses of the Eastern Townships, I have wrought a work of great power in preperation for your task. Recieve now the Sacker, a sword of immense power. Aside from its extreme craftsmanship, the blade shall bestow upon its weilder these powers three:

1- All lightning bolts aimed at the weilder are immediately redirected on the closest English writings found, which are immeditely destroyed. The weilder is unharmed.

2- All creatures hit by an attack from this blade are instantly engulfed in a sack, hence its name :D. This sack can only be opened by uttering the sacred incantation: Vive le Québec libre!.

3- Additionnaly, all creatures that emerge from the magical sack are instantely loyal to the weilder of the Sacker, and will be unable to utter words in any other language save French.

Now go forth, and let none stand in the way of the Champions of Quebec!

The BLUE age shall be ushered in!

Fellow quebecer champions!! Hear me!

Hrumm...theatricals aside, would you like to play a DS game in the Qc area, since we're pretty much all from the province?
I havn't played D&D in years and all my DS experiences sucked!

I'm thinking a one-shot two-day session, we could even prepare charater sheets in advance and have them run throught the DM so we can be a little more advanced than first level and put to work those nice little feats from athas.org...

Finding out if its even possible is a first: time constraints, families and kids, horses!, location, jobs...

Qu'en pensez-vous tous?

2- All creatures hit by an attack from this blade are instantly engulfed in a sack, hence its name.

Now, who gets SACKED?

You know, there's a whole lot of sacking going on here.

People might get the wrong idea; this is a family board after all ;)

Then let us know you over time:
Show us you can speak as a true quebecer by taking part of the discussions on these Boards and you'll surely get a title from Shei-Nad.

Merci.

Mostly, it's the same language with some word/expression typical to each country where it's spoken. Same as american english and british english. Just remember that not so long ago French was one of the most spoken language worldwide(# of contries not # of people).

"was gonna take French"
"allais prendre des Français "

Somehow I don't think you wanted to communicate your sexual intentions in regard to our female population...
...he..he..

That's more a literal translation from english to french, as you don't say in french that you "take" classes/courses, you "follow" them (i.e. suivre un cours de français).

Pretty good french though!

Hmmm... So many candidates, so few peoples to wipe out... ;)

I shall have to reopen the pristine tower, and see what can be done! Let me see... (remember: this is politically incorrect humor ;))

Murkaf - Because of your Peruvian origins and lore, you shall be sent back there with a new goal: You shall reopen the acient Inca pyramids and remake them as monuments to the glory of Québec! All of peru shall flock to these temples to learn of the Belle Province and adopt our values. Those that will not submit to our unconsteted glory shall be sacrificed by your hand atop those very pyramids! Let the blood of the infidels run on the steps of our mouments, and pave the way to the coming of the BLUE age!

Arise Murkaf, 10th champion of Québec, the Peruvian Persecutor!

Kurkamor - Do not be saddened by your defeat at the hands of Grummore, for He is Champion and you are not - yet! When you feel the flame of genocide kindle in your heart (as we all do :D), then present yourself again to the pristine tower, and I shall make you live anew...

Pringles - A short comment on origins, but little on goals. But come to the pristine tower, if that is thy wish, and present yourself. I may have a goal for you...

Sgio Karka - Hmm... Un Corse, c'est ça? J'ai peut-être une idée, mais un peu plus d'info serait bien...

And so there are now 10 Champions of Québec, and candidates still flock to my tower! Bow down now, world, for the blue age of Quebec, and its Champions, is at hand...

Goddman canadians. Nearly as much fun as Kiwi's.

;)

It's a shame the Kiwi is going out of extinction.. used to be a very common bird, till people discovered how to manufacture fruits and shoe polish out of them... ahh well....

Heh, this post is funny (Shame it's getting bumped a year after the fact for me to find). I live nowhere near the border, I live in Vegas, but we get invaded during minor league hockey season.. Busloads and busloads of teams must I drive back and forth to the Ice... Oh the humanity... Eh!

Born and raised in Southern California. Born in Arcadia specifically, in a hospital somewhat across the street from Santa Anita (horse) Race Track. Grew up not too far from there, and only left SoCal for Vegas 3 years ago.

Ah, so your "red states" more or less gained the upper hand this time around. Even so, I have a feeling that Canada's "right" is still pretty left, maybe even more left than the U.S.'s left, heh.

A few friends and I were specualting it was more of a "we're tired of the corruption, let's try this guy even though we disagree with him mostly but won't have to worry about it much because the NDP just gained another 11 seats" type of deal.

The only thing that bug me is the Harper 10 men he gathered in Québec and most of them taken to the Bloc Québéçois. Duceppe took Québec region as already gain and didnt made much presence there during the campaign... It proved to be an error.

Come now, Ral of Tyr, that isn't right. You can't use that picture to describe us looking at America:

In that picture, Rikus is looking at the huge, well equiped army of its neighbor, a militaristic, supremacist nation ruled by an egomaniacle, warmongering despot, invading other people's lands to occupy their capital and take control of their most valuable natural ressource.

I just can't see how that applies...

You might want to check out the rest of the thread. You'll see it was always quite political, though always humoristic in nature. You'd notice, among other things, that my titles include "War-Bringer" and "American Annihilator". Please read the thread and your Dark Sun timeline to avoid being offended.

One final comment on this:

I was indeed describing Urik, not America. If you could see common elements, I'd be far more upset and worried about that fact than about me pointing it out on a RPG forum...
