Currently looking through a mates copy of the new DS and it looks like I'm gonna have to order it methinks. A few differences from the older 2nd ed stuff but most I can forgive as its a good reset and its not like alot of the original material was that cinsistent or balenced. Anyhow I quite like that the new Athas is alot bigger than the old and it is an easy retcon. For the most part Ill go with the new 4th ed stuff but theres a few missing pieces such as the new stuff is a refocus on the Tyr region. The older stuff had Ur Draxa and the expanded Athas in it form the revised boxed set. 4th ed would allow you to reflavour things you didn't like so much from 2nd ed.
I have a PDF map of the old DS which is compiled from the old PDFs I bought from RPGnow.com a few years ago. What would you do with Ur Draxa, Thamasku, Kurn, Eldaaritch, Saragar/Last Sea, Troll Grave Chasm and the reat of Athas. Brainstorm a few ideas and I may do a write up to unofficially update them for 4th ed. Would the Mindlords of Saragar have psionically imprisoned a primordial or spirit of the land to preserve Saragar etc. I've been lurking here for a bit lately and some of the new players and 4th ed posters I'm not to familiar with have had some very good ideas.

Actually I liked your idea about the twisted trees of life in Ur Draxa. I never got to use VoDaF in 2nd ed so I may use it in 4th so any ideas about rebooting some location would be good. IN 3.5 for example when I ran my expanded timeline game I had an idea of replacing the failing border guardians in Saragar with new psionic constructs (warforged) to guard the border.

Dungeon magazine #56 is the best source. There may be some tidbits in the expanded setting also.
The revised boxed set and Dunbgeon 56 are your best bets. Thats the idea of this thread- update teh larger Athas to 4th ed and tweak some of the more stupid ideas that were around.

If you think I'm trolling get a life. Athas is alot bigger than what was in 4th ed and the point of the thread is that you can expand the setting by updating the extra territories to 4th ed norms and tweak the history.

I have an inordinate level of affection for trolls. Finding out that there is an adventure, in Athas, with a troll is amazing. I was legitimately enthusiastic about trolls.
The Troll was a mutant one though, and 2000 years old.
I base this on his avatar being a troll and the fact you were just talking about a place called TROLL GRAVE CHASM...
