| #1davidgivenJun 20, 2010 7:00:21 | My son Jack DM'd his first session yesterday using the Free RPG Day Dark Sun module. He struggled a bit with the opening skill challanges (welcome to Athas!), but handled the combat like a seasoned pro--dropping the Thri-kreen in the first round! A lot of fun and I really wanted to thank everyone for making this adventure available for free. Thanks, David S. |

| #3Duke5150Jun 21, 2010 0:13:00 | Bah! These free rpg day adventures need to be downloadable on this site, for those of us who can't drop everything to go play games....![]() I'v lucked out that a friend makes it his priority to go to these every time one happens, so I'm hoping he got the new ds adventure. I got to play the weeping briars adventure and he's got others. So here's hoping! |

Alternatively, the D&DXP adventure could be released (unless they're still doing it at cons or something?) |
| #5glasswalker7382Jul 02, 2010 14:23:16 | Anyone know of anywhere I could get my hands on a Bloodsand Arena module? I had to attend a wedding the weekend it released and none of the shops around where I was staying were participating (Not that it would've mattered had I not gone to the wedding; as it turns out the local shop and quasi-local shops weren't participating, either). Feeling a little left out in the cold here. I know what stores did or didn't participate has nothing to do with WotC however, you'd think that they'd be aware the this sort of thing would happen. So, now you've got loyal customers to the product who are soured on the idea...at least I am, a little. Checked Ebay for fun and people are scalping the modules on there for $30+! That's way against the spirit of free RPG day, if not against some sort of copyright/promotional material law/resale law. //G. |

I'm with you on that one, none of my LGS's even had an idea about it. |
| #7Duke5150Jul 02, 2010 21:30:47 | I hope wotc offers it as a download, soon. I'd love to get my hands on this adventure and I'm not sure if any of my gaming pals have it. |
| #8kruggJul 02, 2010 21:36:58 | The actual module itself? Eh, it's alright. Standard 1st level fare with Dark Sun twists. The characters? Kinda neat, especially since it throws in Templar and Defiler PCs. Where it really shines, and what made my 45-minute drive to a not-so-local gaming store worth it, was the included fold-out poster map. The Arena map itself is completely generic, so it's perfect for any game - Dark Sun, standard D&D fantasy, gritty pulp fantasy, a Conan d20 game, and so on. I don't know if they'll be able to include that in a PDF download. |
| #9Duke5150Jul 02, 2010 21:46:39 | You can scan poster maps, section by section and then print them out and staple them together, or you can take a digital photo of the entire map. Which can be used as a reference while using a normal, "blank" grid map. Still, I can live without the map if it means getting the adventure as a free download from wotc. |

| #11carahueDec 03, 2010 7:18:28 | Has anyone noticed that the Heal skill in the second part of the skill challenge doesn't make any sense? Heal (DC 19): When a character fails an Endurance check, a different adventurer can make a Heal check to neutralize that failure. A Heal check can be used in this manner only once during this stage of the challenge. So it lets you cancel a failure rolling Endurance, but Endurance is a group check here, so there's no difference between a failure or a "netural", as anyway half of the group has to succeed: Endurance (DC 12 or 19, group): If the characters failed in the first part of the skill challenge, they must plow through massive dunes to reach the road. In this case, use the higher DC value for the group check. All the adventurers must roll this check. If at least half succeed on this check, the group check counts as 1 success in this challenge. Also there aren't individual penalties for failing (e.g. you don't lose a healing surge or anything), making the Heal skill completely useless here. |
