Brom did some fabulous Dark Sun artwork back in the 90s...anyone here ever picked up either of two Brom art books.."Darkwerks the Art of Brom" or "Offerings the Art of Brom"??

I have been looking for a piece of artwork he did of Borys the Dragon, which was on the cover of the supplement "Valley of Dust and Fire"..I was just wondering if this was in either of these two books??

Brom painted Dregoth, hes on the cover of City by the Silt Sea.

stonewall1 - the original of the Valley of Dust and Fire cover sold at auction a few years ago for a few grand.  Now that would look nice on the wall...

"Offerings" doesn't have any Dark Sun art, "Darkwerks" has several Dark Sun pieces, but not that one. I would still pick them up though, they are both packed with some amazing artwork.

Might seem like a silly question but, why didnt they bring him back? I would love to see how he would draw the new races.

I've been looking through the old books from the original box set (my buddy owns a copy) and the Brom color stuff is absolutely amazing. His covers are what gave all of us our visual hook for what Dark Sun really is.

His line art inside the books though? Some of that comes across as being kind of throw away pieces. The other guy they had doing interior art wasn't as good, but Brom's interior pieces leaved something to be desired.

And they absolutely should have ponied up the cash to get him to do the covers for all this new stuff. It'd be gorgeous.

Most likely mgbeach is right. Though he did pass up a really lucrative job to work at TSR in the first place, so maybe it's something else. He might be more interested in doing his own thing these days.

I love Brom. He is what drew me to Dark Sun. I loved how the designers of Dark Sun would have Brom draw something and then build the game around it.

Brom IMO is the single most influential and awesome D&D artist to have come along. His stuff is just amazing.

I wish they would bring him back. If I am not mistaken, I think he has his artwork on a couple of magic cards as well.

Ugh...Dark Sun without Brom is just made a little part of me die inside.

Brom's work on Dark Sun was awesome.  As others have mentioned above, he really defined the visual style of the setting.

Good times, good artwork.

I found Darkwerks at my FLGS' used shelf a couple of months ago. It was only $5, so I really counted myself lucky. It was published about 10 years ago, but does cover about 90% of his Dark Sun work, as well as some non-D&D work.  If you can find it, or if there's a newer art book of his on sale, I'd really recommend you to pick it up.
