Does anyone know if there's a project for a new D&D4e PC game based on Dark Sun or any world that is not mmo? A Dark Sun game would be fantastic.... and, perhaps, Dark Sun movie, not like those crappy D&D 1 and 2 movies, something else. Anyway, I'm talking about something like Neverwinter nights.

IF they make a game, I hope they do it right.  And by that I mean they should not try to shoehorn the purely turnbased game into some crappy realtime facade.  There are SO many powers and feats in DnD now that would simply not work in a realtime game.  Only a purely turnbased game could capture the hundreds of strategies and tactics now present in the game.

I hope its NOTHING like NWN.  I hope that they don't sacrifice the heart and soul of turnbased combat in exchange for some watered down realtime combat that cuts down your possible options from hundreds to a handful.

Bring the game back to the old days.  Give me turnbased or give me nothing.  4e has the potential of being the greatest engine for a turnbased DnD game ever.  I really hope Wizards doesn't blow it because some "suits" looked at some "polls" and figured out that only "realtime" games sell to the kiddies.  Screw the kiddies.  Make the game that all of the hardcore DnD fans who've been playing for decades want.

That's my opinion on the topic.  All that said, I suspect we haven't heard anything about a 4e game because they are trying to figure out how to shoehorn the turnbased essence of 4e into a realtime piece of crap.  Yeah, I'm jaded like that.  As much as I would love to see the game I described above come out, I seriously doubt it will ever happen.

I do agree with you. However, just the fact of having a Dark Sun game would make me play it, whenever it's good or not, because I'd love to really see the places and characters of athas come alive.

Aye the next D&D game *MUST* be turn based, rela time sucks hugely. I'd adore NWN except for the fact that real time waste smuch of the point of D&D!

compare the Temple of Elemental Evil PC game (when patched) to NWN...TOEE is vastly superior! all your tactical choices are there...mman I so love my fighter/rogue with spiked chain and oh, forgot the name, feat that gives you more uses of opportunity attacks based of Dexteiry...so when enemies try slipping past him he chops them to bits, muhaha!

hey let me do a D&D movie! ;)

Aye, I'd love a Turn-Based D&D CRPG. Dark would be cool, although I'd like Eberron just a tiny bit more.

About a Darksun movie...

What makes you think there could be one in the Darksun universe??
I’m sorry to say but even if there were one, WotC are so crappy when it come to movies, ( see D&D 1 and 2 and you’ll agree) I’d be afraid to see it.

That’s to bad. There is so much potential in a D&D movie. I know it is not Darksun but just to name one. The setting is alive since eons (forgotten realms) which I would guess with millions of fans(players) and what do they do??   D&D 1 and 2. Even with the second movie they didn’t learn their lesson. --Both comedies for 8 year old kids.-- What about a real movie with lets say Drizzt and company for mature audience!! (well they would need permission from Salvatore to use the characters I guess but I do not see why he wouldn’t like to see his dear Drizzt put to the screen.)
How about a movie about the generic characters we see so often in the D&D core books. Even a CG movie could be awesome.(which I would prefer.)

And you’d like to see a Darksun movie!?

Nah!! You’d be way to much disappointed.

I think the best that could happen is a fan-fiction short made by .... us
(for my part I know how to use Maya, Zbrush, and a bit of Vue.)

Jihun-Nish, have you seen this You Tube fan tribute?

I think that sums up what kind of movie we Dark Sun fans would like; Lots o' violence, burning sand and a rocking soundtrack.  Unfortunately, I think the budget alone for such a movie terrifies Hasbro/WotC to no end.  Then you have to pay the actors.

Thanks for the link. No I haven't seen it before today. (It was a bit **** to recognise alot of the movie clips in this DS trailer

That said, it wouldn't have to be that epic (with big armies and all.) And for the actors and their $$$. Why should Hasbro have to pick known actors/stars to play in the movie. I mean think of Lord of the rings's main actors: 95% of them became stars after the movie was known (seen): the only one I already knew is the one interpreting the dwarf Gimli.

Lot of LOTRs actors were well known but nto A list actors.

Ian McKellern was A list, Ian Holm, Elrond actor, Cate Blanchette, Christopher Lee, Borromir Actor (well bottom of A rung I guess), Grymma actor

B list actors: John Rhys Davis , VIggo Mortensen, Sean Astin, Bernard Hill, Liv Tyler (B+), Frodo actor,

Onthe whole I agree there needs ot be an end of Hollywood super stars and their sick pay packets, it's ruining the industry. Actors should get a set fee and % of profits, so enough to keep decent wage, and if you do good, nice fat bonus.
