D&D Encounters pre-rolled characters

Jun 09, 2010 10:37:24 Has the Character Builder been updated to include the themes set forth in the Dark Sun campaign? I was attempting to build one of the pre-rolled characters released on the D&D Encounters site so that I can print out a character sheet to have more real estate to make notes and such, but the themes don't exist and it essentially means I can't create the character properly.

The one I was looking at was the human enlightened ardent with the Noble Adept theme. It looks like the theme allows for Charisma to be used as the basic attack stat instead of Strength and also gives the character one extra Power Point at 1st level, but the Character Builder doesn't allow for this at the moment. I know it's not a huge deal, but when they give renown points for creating characters for the campaign using the CB but the CB doesn't do them right, that seems a little odd.

Jun 09, 2010 10:42:00 No, not yet. The CB does not get updated with that information until after the books release. Unless there is an official article in Dragon about it that information will be in the CB by September at the soonest.

Jun 09, 2010 11:22:35 That's a good point. Themes haven't been added the CB, and thus cannot be used to make characters for the DS encounters games.

Using Charisma Mod for Basic Attack is actually an existing Feat, and is in the Character Builder. I believe the Human Ardent took this feat, but it isn't listed on the character sheet (to conserve space).

It is my understanding that there are no reknown points for making characters this time around. Because it's a preview of Dark Sun, all of the characters are pre mades. Further, when it comes to level up, you get a card detailing the differences based on what you already have.

So, you shouldn't need the CB for the Dark Sun Encounters.
