| #8theplaneswalkerSep 25, 2010 14:56:26 | Some songs from lineage 2 (bill brown) and songs from all prince of persia video games (stuart chatwood). |

| #11arrikOct 10, 2010 5:50:30 | I've been using a lot of music for my DS game. Here are some different things that you might want to check out - good for ambience. 1) Stravinsky - Le Sacre du Printemps (The Rite of Spring). This is the music that John Williams does a pastiche of in A New Hope (specifically the Tatooine parts). It's interesting 12-tone series music. 2) Stravinsky (again!) - L'Oiseau de Feu (The Firebird) 3) Sections of Dvorak's New World Symphony 4) Secret Chiefs 3 - Book M 5) Holst - The Planets Suite (specifically Neptune and Saturn) Uhm...as for Sitar...there's a lot of World Music out there - you can even get some good sounds out of things like the Fifth Element soundtrack. |
| #12DuskweaverOct 10, 2010 11:39:14 | 2) Stravinsky (again!) - L'Oiseau de Feu (The Firebird) The sprite in Disney's Fantasia 2000 version of this is pretty much how I envisage avangions. An avangion ought to be bigger, obviously. But still, I think she looks much better as an avangion than the usual freaky-grey-alien-insect-thing. |
| #13arrikOct 10, 2010 16:41:46 | 2) Stravinsky (again!) - L'Oiseau de Feu (The Firebird) Agreed. It is a far better Avangion than that pictured in the books. On this, I don't mind the Fantasia 2000 arrangement of the Firebird (an abridged version of the 1919 Suite), but prefer the full-45 minute ballet score originally written in 1909. |

The complete original versions of musical works are pretty much always superior to Bowdlerised versions. Alas, I can't even remember the last time I actually had 45 continuous minutes to sit and listen to some music... ![]() |
| #15arrikOct 11, 2010 16:30:57 | [ The complete original versions of musical works are pretty much always superior to Bowdlerised versions. Alas, I can't even remember the last time I actually had 45 continuous minutes to sit and listen to some music... I feel your pain. I only get a chance to listen to music on the way to work (or at games, when I'm not really listening). So...L'Oiseau de Feu was listened to in 3 pieces. |
| #16awaken_D_M_golemOct 11, 2010 17:06:26 | No Heavy Metal ... ![]() |
| #17arrikOct 11, 2010 21:44:47 | No Heavy Metal ... ..But if you must, use stuff from the band, "The Sword", as it's humourous. Or...for the total lack of respect for the setting, "Holy Wars" by Megadeth. ;) |
| #18angelus_obscuraOct 12, 2010 12:46:07 | Anything sung by Azam Ali. Her's is the voice of the desert. Check out the vids of her singing "The Hunt" and "Allahi Allah". She was also the one who sang the Inama Nushif montage for Children of Dune. She was also the lead vocal for the 300 film score/soundtrack, and works include Matrix Revolutions, Battlefield Earth, and The Legend of Earthsea. She was also the voice behind the TV show, Prison Break's opening theme. |
| #19awaken_D_M_golemOct 12, 2010 16:33:58 | ... interesting! Listening to The Hunt (link) right now. Tasty stuff. " ... The Hunt was filmed live at the Knitting Factory in Los Angeles ... " I know of The Knitting Factory in New York, due to the free jazz and avant guard stuff. ** surprisingly, I haven't run out of new things on the Interwebs just yet. |
