These remind me of the "kits" from 2E. Anyone know how they work and what other templates we can look forward to see in 4E? |
| #2ian.thomsonJun 10, 2010 13:08:10 | What you're refering to are themes. They're kinda like kits, only they're not repeated across different classes. Instead, different classes use the same theme. It may be possible that there are a selection of powers, so that a low int/wis/cha Fighter Templar and a low str/con/dex Wizard Templar both might get something out of the theme. |

| #4PennarinJun 11, 2010 12:51:41 | In a sense a theme is like a class you can mutliclass into: you gain similar benefits to multiclassing - swapping powers for totally different ones - but without the need to take multiclassing feats, and is available at character creation. The theme may even give you a power or two, for free. It is yet to be seen. |

Very nice! ForeverSlayer I am not certain what you mean. The Theme are used along all Classes so you can have a Gladiator Druid, Gladiator Psion, and a Gladiator Bard all in the same party. |
| #6big_goonJun 11, 2010 13:05:26 | I always thought of a theme as "the background of your training". While "Backgrounds" describe how a character gets skills, a theme is more for the training. For example, a character that was trained in the Templar Barracks would have a Templar theme, regardless of whether the character class is fighter, rogue, warlock, swordmage, bard, or even druid. |
