| #1krosszer0Aug 14, 2008 13:17:54 | So I'm a new DM and after getting my feet wet in Scales of War a little bit, I decided I wanted to introduce players to my personal favorite setting: Dark Sun. To do this I pulled a lot of the best ideas on rule convedrsions I've found together and made a makeshift Dark Sun PHB (pulled mostly from Alex's awesomen"my attempt at 4e dark sun" post, meshed with the paizo edition, and a little bit of of Athas.org's edition). So I decided I wanted to convert the "Last Stand at Outpost Three" intro adventure to start off with. I've been working on the first chapter, and the first two elf battles were easy. Then came the battle with the Crodlu trainer and his Crodlu. So I created an Athasian Elf Crodlu Trainer and Crodlu monster for 4e. Here they are, for review and commenting. Keep in mind a design them for a level six encounter for seven PCs. 4 Crodlu Level 6 Skirmisher Large natural beast (reptile) XP 250 Initiative +5 Senses Perception +8; low-light vision HP 70; Bloodied 35 AC 20; Fortitude 21, Reflex 20, Will 20 Speed 8 Bite (standard; at-will) +11 vs. AC; 1d10+4 damage Pounce (standard; at-will) The crodlu charges and makes two bite attacks against a single target instead of one melee basic attack. Mobile Melee Attack (standard; at-will) The crodlu can move up to 4 squares and make one melee basic attack at any point during that movement. The crodlu doesn't provoke opportunity attack when moving away from the target of its attack. Pack Attack The crodlu deals an extra 3 damage on melee attacks against an enemy that has two or more of the crodlu's allies adjacent to it. Alignment Unaligned Languages -- Skills Athletics +9, Stealth +8 Str 19 (+4) Dex 16 (+3) Wis 16 (+3) Con 14 (+2) Int 5 (0) Cha 13 (+1) Elven Crodlu Trainer Level 10 Elite Skirmisher Medium Natural Humanoid Ranger XP 1,000 Initiative +8 Senses Perception +16; low-light vision HP 195 Bloodied 97 AC 24; Fortitude 27, Reflex 26, Will 25 Speed 7; see also wild step Action Points 1 Scimitar (standard; at-will), Weapon +15 vs. AC; 1d8+5 damage Twin Strike (standard; at-will), Weapon +15 vs. AC, two attacks; 1d8 damage Two-Weapon Rend (standard; encounter), Weapon The elf crodlu trainer makes an attack with each scimitar against a single target. If both attacks hit, the elf crodlu trainer deals an additional 5 damage. Claws of the Griffon (standard; encounter), Weapon +15 vs. AC, two attack; 2d8+5 damage, 1d8+5 damage Swirling Leaves of Steel (standard; daily), Weapon Close burst 1; +15 vs. AC, one attack per target; 2d8+5 damage Unbalancing Parry (immediate reaction, when an enemy misses the Elven Crodlu Trainer with a melee attack; encounter), Weapon The elven crodlu trainer slides the enemy into a square adjacent to it and gains combat advantage against the enemy until the end of its next turn. Elven Trickery (free, encounter) The elf crodlu trainer gains combat advantage against the target until the beginning on his next turn Cloud Mind (immediate reaction, the elven crodlu trainer is attacked; encounter), Psionic, Charm +13 vs. Will; the elven crodlu trainer gains combat advantage against the target until the end of its next turn.
