Dark Sun economy out of whack

Is it me or is the 4E Dark Sun economy a bit over-inflated?\

I'm putting together a sandbox Dark Sun campaign, so I want trading to be as realistic as possible, in case the PCs want to go into the trade business. Trying to get pricing for trade goods is rather inconsistant.

I'm building my trade model off info from the 2E supplement, Dune Trader and athas.org's 3E Trade Lords.

Has anyone else noticed this or run into similar issues? Any suggestions?

Comparing 4e gold values and 2e ones could go wrong.  I don't know how it was in 2e, but I doubt it was the same.

Also, what kind of economic baseline are you working from?  I know in some previous editions, they've mentioned what kind of money common people earn, but I can't find anything like that in 4e.

In any case, I'd take the 2e stuff you found and compare it to other 2e purchases to get an idea of it's relative worth, then look at 4e stuff and figure out about where it fits in.
