The Dark Sun group that I DM has gone through a long journey that began in Nibenay. The harshness of the cromson sun stil gnaws at their bare skin, but they're level 14 now (from level 3), and pretty soon they'll be major players in the goings-on of Athas (in our game). Recently, one of the players decided to draw the party, and I think it looks awesome enough to share with the DS community.

(apologies for the watermark. We had to do it to preserve IP and all that.)

From left to right, then bottom:

*Bjorn Mindhammer, Gladiator dwarf and bearer of Rkard's hammer. (Battlemind) His player made the artwork. Smile
*Prince Cypher, (recently revealed) son of Nibenay. The blood of the Shadow King allows him to manipulate shadows and change his form at-will. I guess that makes him the brother of Dhojakt as well as (in my game world) Siemhouk. (guess the race/class. XD)
*Visarion, 11th scale templar of Dregoth. Sent by the dread king to establish alliances of convenience with certain other SKs. (sorcerer)
*Alderun, Urikite astrologer haunted by primal spirits. As if the SKs aren't enough, he discovered a mysterious star called "Ragnorra" approaching Athas. (swordmage|shaman)
*Kensidan, templar of Tyr. Defiler that draws his power from his own blood. Oh, and the new Pandita (Siemhouk got elevated to "first wife" recently) happens to be his twin sister. (wizard-blood mage)
*(bottom) The Renegade, halfling gladiator with ties to the Veiled Alliance. Best described as a crazy m*****-*****r. (ardent)

Yes, some of them notably have metal weapons at this point. I think they earned it, and it's not like they didn't have a lot of trouble with elves trying to steal their weapons. :P What do you guys think of the art?

Also, if any of you have images of your party, feel free to post it here as well. I think it would be nice to have a repository of party images. Laughing

Awesome artwork!

More intriguingly, is it the Ragnorra from Elder Evils? If so, how do you plan on using her in the campaign?

Why yes, it is. XD

Just before betraying Rajaat at the height of the Cleansing Wars, Uyness of Waverly discovered the star known as Ragnorra and identified its life-giving powers. She noted its ability to restore the defiled land. At the urging of Borys, however, she directed the star away from Athas, because while the restoration of plant life would increase their power, it would make Rajaat similarly powerful.

Fast forward to the present. A faction of the Order led by the psurlon Irthicax Vane is aware of Ragnorra and is actively directing it towards Athas. They have also leaked the information to certain members of the The Veiled Alliance, who want it to restore the world to its former abundance, and to certain defilers, who see see it (like Uyness of her time) as a renewable source of power.

Already there are two modests forests that have been formed by the vicinity of Ragnorra. One is in the marshes to the northeast of Draj, where the party has discovered juvenile Nightmare Beasts, "children of Ragnorra" that combine druidic magic with defiling lightning. Vane controls this forest, and he sees the beasts as magnificent creatures.

Without revealing too much (my players might be reading), the second forest seems to have been created by a being known as Rafernard through the power of Ragnorra. I'll be adapting the 2E adventure, "Forest Maker" here.

In a nutshell, just about everyone wants Ragnorra to fall on Athas. No one (save the adventurers, and perhaps Irthicax) considers the possibility that Ragnorra itself might be sentient. Wink

**********

Forest Maker will make it to my game as a level 15-17 adventure, while Ragnorra herself is a potential campaign-ender if the players don't choose the "slay-the-SKs" default plot option for epic. (There's a good chance that they'll be the right-hand-men of various SKs rather than want to replace them, so I needed to introduce some other BBEG. Abalach-Re seems like the paragon BBEG either way, though.)

Awesome picture... If I had any skill I would post all the time

(On behalf of the artist) Thanks! He'll be happy to know that his pic is well-received. Smile

Wow, that sounds great! People - many probably 'good-aligned' - want Ragnorra to be brought to the world. What a twist.

I love Elder Evils and I had tried to work on a little project on tying them all to Dark Sun in the vein there were suggestions of how they fit into Forgotten Realms and Eberron. Alas, life goes on, but in my own campaign Pandorym is the big bad.

In my version of the setting, it wasn't the Primordials who beat out the Gods back in the day - it was Pandorym. Its primary use as a deity-killer seemed to fit in perfectly, along with its strong psionic flavor, makes it perfect for Dark Sun

Yeah, I'm loving Elder Evils as well. Too bad it came out during late 3.5. I actually got it for PhP200 (around US$4) in a bargain bookstore a number of months back, and I almost immediately decided to include one of them should the Dark Sun game look like it could go epic. Their status as non-deities really help with incorporating them into the godless setting. Smile

I just got back into lurching in the forums after a short hiatus and have to say that this badass. I wish I had half the talent of your player. You don't know how many times I wished to draw up my group's PCs.
