After getting Heroes of the Feywild over Xmas, I was pretty excited to include aspects of it in a campaign.  However, I had also long wanted to start a Dark Sun campaign, so I decided to merge the two into a different take on a Dark Sun campaign.  So was born the idea for Defense of the Heart, where all (or at least most) of the PCs are from the Lands Beyond the Wind and are fighting to save their small little pocket of surviving Feywild from continued destruction due to defiling.

Of course, then came the issue that there's basically nothing about the Lands Beyond the Wind in 4E, unless I've missed something.  So I come here for both additional ideas and possible material I could look at to add to my planning.  Any assistance would be welcomed.

There's nothing that I know of. I was really hoping for some mention in HotFW as well, but I dont think there's anything in there.

I think you're idea for a campaign is pretty cool, I'd be interested in reading about it if you come up with anything.

I've got an Obsidian Portal site started for it, and will eventually be updating it as I get further along in development.  You can find it here: www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/dark-su....

Thus far, I've got an Feydark attack from Drow to get the PCs involved.  Of course, the Drow are the distraction and while the PCs spend 1st level fending off the Drow, the real threat makes it to the heart of their section of the Feywild, the Tree of Life, whose magic has kept their little pocket from fading completely away.  The real threat (which I'm undecided on as of yet) shatters the "heart" of the tree, but the tree's magic is enough to save them by sending the pieces into Athas proper.  Of course, it wouldn't be much of a quest if they weren't in different places, and of course, we have the whole "fish out of water" aspect of these Fey, some of whom have never left their little land, venturing into the unforgiving lands of Athas.

The pieces of the heart will be Magical Items that the PCs will acquire and will be based on the elements, so there will be a Something of Water, of Air, etc.

Since I don't have ton of time to design whole scenarios, I'm considering running the Marauders of the Dune Sea module but making the magic item they're searching for the first of the pieces instead of the Crown of Dust, but I haven't decided yet.

I'm open to any ideas you might come up with and want to share.  You are a much bigger expert on Athas than I.

I looked through your Obsidian Portal website...I love the idea!

The last two sessions of my game have been focused around the eladrin Seeker in our party. (Sadly, they have not yet received player writeups on my own Obsidian Portal site). In his history, he was a member of the eladrin community guarding the Witchgrove, in the Crescent Forest where the Lands Within The Wind lie close to Athas; Nibenese defilers/templars attacked the Witchgrove and collapsed it with defiling magic, and our eladrin Seeker woke up homeless in the forest.

Fast forward to a year later; the PCs are heading from Tyr to Altaruk to investigate how slaver groups (who have been steadily transporting slaves southward for the past two months) have gotten their hands on the secret planned maneuvers of the Crimson Legion. En route, they are caught up in a huge dust storm and take shelter at a guesthouse: the Mahindrazal, from Dungeon #188. I guess I should spoiler the rest for any players of Dark Sun games whose DMs might be using this article.

The Mahindrazal is run by Zindriel, who appears to be an eladrin but is actually a dark fey spirit called a sand bride (from the DSCC); her goal is to consume and enslave as many of the "defilers" (that is...everyone) who have ruined Athas as possible; each slave she assimilates makes her more powerful. I had to add a ton of information to the written article (and change a bunch...there was some pretty unworkable stuff in it), but it went really well, with the eladrin being repeatedly tempted, over a couple of days, into betraying his colleagues before finally refusing and having a climactic battle with the dark fey.
