| #1KurmudgeonAug 16, 2011 0:05:15 | I saw a post in the general forums stating that WotC had decide to start producing non-random mini packs starting some time next year. Other than wanting to say, It's about time! I dare to dream that they might actually put out a pack (or two) of Dark Sun themed critters. I know, not much of chance, but I can dream right. Supposedly they are going to be 12 packs with 1-2 large creatures and the rest medium and small. So my question is, what would be your top choices for those 12 critters? Would you rather see monsters or adventurers? Rare creatures or something more common. |
| #2DontEatRawHagisAug 16, 2011 8:33:31 | Thri-Kreen and Muls. As far as anything else I am not that picky. |
| #3battlemaster95Aug 16, 2011 9:41:42 | i would like to see things like Kanks and Id Feinds, along with a whole lot of thri-kreen. |
| #4Raddu76Aug 16, 2011 10:00:59 | I didnt know there were going to be 12 packs so we can hope for 2 packs from each world (DS, Eberron, FR). One for "monsters" and one for "civilized". That would leave 6 for generic monsters. SO if there were 2 Dark Sun packs I'd love to see some Crodlus, Kanks, Id Fiends and TK as Battlemaster said. Definitely a Braxat and Brogh. and some Gith. A Kirre would be cool and of course everyone's favorite Tembo. The Dragon of Tyr as a Large would be pretty sweet! As for the civilized pack...some more HG's, some Athasian Elves and Dwarves and TK. We can dream can't we? |
| #5DungeoneeringAug 16, 2011 12:58:35 | Pretty much anything insectile. As people mentioned, thri-kreen and kanks are common in Dark Sun and it's hard finding minis that resemble either. |
| #6GMforPowergamersAug 17, 2011 1:58:42 | Since it is also for the new skimish game, I would love to see a theme of gladiators... something like (2 male human, 1 male Mul, 1 Male elf, 1 Male Dragonborn, 1 male half elf, 1 thrikreen, 1 female human, 1 female hafling, 1 Female goliath, 1 female Genesi, and an oger.) then you can have them all have patch work 'cheesecake' armor, mostly of non metal, and bone and obsidan weapons. If you keep them mostly light colors you don't even need DS on them to make them work. |
| #7Raddu76Aug 18, 2011 8:57:35 | I listened to the new product Gencon seminar and they didn't say how many packs they're putting out, but that there will be 12 minis in each pack with 1-2 being large. |
| #8TectuktitlayAug 18, 2011 20:51:22 | After the initial PC/gladiator set (c'mon, that HAS to be the first one), and after a common monsters of Athas set (which I'd like to see set up in such a way that you'd actually WANT to buy more than one, possibly a bunch of copies of that one set; a kank, a crodlu, and one of each of the ten most common unique-to-Athas medium-sized monsters), I want to eventually see a Sorcerer-Monarch related set: Abalech-Re Andropinus Daskinor Hamanu Kalak Kalid-Ma Lalali-Puy Nibenay (Large) Oronis Oronis as an avangion (Large) Sielba Tectuktitlay That's 12 figs, two of which are large (one dragon, one avangion). It gives WotC time to include Dragon or Dungeon articles for Oronis and Sielba, as well, along with Kalid-Ma in his normal form (pre-disaster). |
| #9NocturnalchemyAug 18, 2011 23:46:29 | I would happily drop good money on minis for Hamanu, Lalali-Puy, and Nibenay. Also, I'd shell out serious cash for the Dragon of Tyr, though I suspect that sort of thing would be a limited release, like Orcus and the colossal red. Beyond that, I'd be happy with any combination of kanks, kreen, muls, cilopses, beast-headed giants, hairless dwarves, tembos, kirres, gaj, and minis of various races done up in an Athasian style. |
| #10SveinnAug 30, 2011 16:46:31 | My top list is: Female and Male Mul. Female Tiefling and a Thri-kreen. So I guess a pack with adventurers would be my first pick. When it comes to monsters what I would like to see most are models with few or no options when it comes to proxy. Crodlu, Kanks, Psurlons or Mekillot (maybe a young, smaller one, since they are so huge). I would also love a model of the Dragon of Tyr, although that would probebly be in a boxed set of its own. Im not really interested in things like Silt Runners or Tarek since they can be easily replaced with kobold or orc minis. Unfortunetly my skepticism tells me that its unlikely we will see a dark sun specific box, however I am hoping they toss a Thri-kreen and maybe some Muls into a generic PC box. Either way I really look forward being able to get minis again more easily. |
