Druids aren't exactly organized in DS (and the veiled alliance isn't exactly either), so it would be a matter of which druid and which VA cell you're talking about. The VA is opposed to the sorcerer kings and defiling in general. If a Sorcerer king could convince a druid that he wasn't going to defil that druid's sacred land, the druid probably wouldn't care about the Sorcerer king's existance (he wouldn't help the SK, but he wouldn't go out of his way to oppose him). Hm. Just found out that there's actually a druid protecting the SK Andropinis's orange groves. The universal rule appears to be that it's up to the individual druid whether or not they cooperate with the VA. |

That said, I tend to run my druids as typically very angry and upset about arcane magic. Most do not discriminate between preserver or defiler, and see all arcane spell-use as bad. But then again, I like pitting a lot of things against each other in my Dark Sun campaigns (leaving the party juxtaposed between multiple different threats) |

But then again, I like pitting a lot of things against each other in my Dark Sun campaigns (leaving the party juxtaposed between multiple different threats) Ditto. In my DS campaign, the Druid player is actually hunting a defiler who destroyed his Oasis. I'm just researching my options. It (unsurprisingly) appears that Druids are a pretty diverse crowd. Let me bounce this off you guys if you don't mind: Currently the druid (and, as he'll find out, all druids on athas) is starting to have recurring dreams. "You are in a lush forest, with massive trees. More trees than you've ever seen in your life. It's like you are there. The night sky is unusually clear, and Ral and Guthay are full and almost in conjunction. You are standing in a glade. There is a pool of water and a large boulder. Sitting on the boulder is a halfling. He's looking at you. 'A storm is coming Druid.'" This dream will evolve, as it happens again and again, the message will become more clear. The druids must head west and converge at the Jagged Cliffs, and they must aid any other druid they find on their way to make this journey. This (unusual) halfling is a rhulisti druid, and he is attempting to communicate with all the druids on Athas through dreams. He wants to gather them all together again and restore them into their former glory, an organized force. A group of psions are plotting to murder the sorcerer-kings, but they are unaware that the sorcerer kings keep Rajaat imprisoned. So, this rhulisti druid wants to gather the druids of athas together to send them on a great quest to find a way to permenantly destroy or banish Rajaat before too many sorcerer-kings die. To that end, my players are currently campaigning in the Draj region. The kings wife is a druid, and my druid will need to help her escape Draj. He'll recieve the message through a dream, that he must "aid all druids in escaping", but he doesn't know the queen is a druid. So, I'm thinking of throwing in a member of the veiled alliance as a plot catalyst for this quest. She'll probably pull him aside, knowing a tablelands druid by the hardened appearence and social naivete... |

| #7nimblegrundFeb 21, 2010 3:15:03 | Personally I have always assumed that the VA and the druids didn't work together very often. The difference between preservers and defilers isn't common knowledge to my understanding, so I would assume your average druid wouldn't be able to tell the difference either. There is also the barrier in that most druids operate out in the wilderness, whereas the VA usually operates in the city-states, so they don't cross paths very often. I think their goals to coincide, at least when it comes to returning the land to its original state, so I could see an alliance between one of the VAs and a circle of druids, but nothing on a very large scale. |
