The more I have thought about it, the more I think that he could be better. So, I have put together a little something to enhance him. Follow the link to a more interesting, much improved, campaign plot ready BBEG who is ready to declare himself the God-King of the North. enjoy! |

Edit: I just re-read Egendos entry in FoFN and you really took him to another level. Sunspot was a great addition I think. In the new entry Egendo is a bit wary of Dote Mal Payne, do you have a beefed up entry for him in the works as well? Again, great work. |

After all, an epic cleric is quite the thing... Otherwise, I like it! Did you modify the claw again? Your wraith reminds me I'll need to draft a basic 4e athasian wraith for my adventure. Wraiths in TotDL are so very complicated, not making it easy to convert to 4e's simplicity without dropping a lot of cool stuff. Wraiths are overly complicated anyway, what with them having to do what appears in Prism Pentad. Personnaly I would throw Skill Chanllenges at PCs instead of making some of those abilites into actual powers...but that's me. |
| #4cnahumckMar 11, 2009 15:21:19 | Sunspot is there because well... it was that, or someone who is like Tristero, which I considered, but eventually decided against. Also, an Elemental Lord would be able to counter act the spells of another Elemental Lord, and this one can be his pet. More fluff can be added, if you think I should. What other kind of creature would you consider? DMP perhaps? And yes, I updated the claw, and then added a duplicate to it through his particular dragon meta spell. Cause, why be like everyone else. Plus, this puts the idea out there for others to do the same thing! Wraiths don't need as much as we gave them. Like the Necromant power. I have always thought that wraiths should be templates, rather than monsters like they are stated. I know that we converted from 2ed, but personally, I think the template works more. |

The duplicate claw just means the one original claw was "mirrored" to his other hand during the third stage of the Dragon Metamorphosis spell that I adjusted it for him. It makes it so that he has two claws instead of one. That is all. |

| #8cnahumckMar 13, 2009 8:33:16 | Pavek: I haven't done anything for DMP, though I have ideas. First would be adding the gray-touched template and a few more levels. also, it is important to adjust his dragon metamorphosis spell so that it works for him. Maybe some fast healing, maybe the poisioned attack, who knows. What did you have in mind? |
| #9pavekMar 14, 2009 14:30:41 | I had nothing in mind. You made Egendo such a frakin beast I thought you might have something in mind for DMP so he could at least put up a fight or justify Egendos reluctance to instigate him. I was thinking of throwing Graytch into the mix instead of Sunspot as a "thrall" but that might be a bit much....but then again maybe another dragon would spice things up? I could think of a million different ways to incorporate Graytch as an ally for either one or just another wild card. I'm leaning toward maybe using him as an opponent for Egendo or an old foe of Sunspot. Kind of a dry run dragon slaying to work up Egendos confidence in his abilities. That doesn't really answer your question does it. This is just off the top of my head since I ran across Graytchs' card last night. |

And, since I basically developed Egendo from the small ideas that I was given, I wanted to make him the way that I would have, rather than holding back. My work with athas.org has made me realize that they keep things balanced to underpowered, so that others can vamp things up. plus, with the use of splat books, things can always be improved. This Egendo is more a plot device for a whole campaign, and it works for the way I work things. Others are encouraged to do the same for themselves. |

This Egendo is more a plot device for a whole campaign, and it works for the way I work things. Others are encouraged to do the same for themselves. Right! That is what I have been saying for some time. The athas.org are dragons are well-balanced, but it is obvious that they were never intended to be. At lower levels, a single classes character of the same level could probably take out an athas.org dragon, and this is a big problem. A real Athasian dragon, even one still undergoing metamorphosis, should be a challenge for even an epic party of 6. My ideas, following the athas.org idea that the PrC and Dragon metamorphosis stages are separate - 1. Dragons should have a bonus feat at every level of the dragon PrC, along with a bonus epic feat every second level (this will make up for the disadvantage they have against single class characters of equal level). 2. An increase in spellcaster and manifester level every level of Dragon PrC. 3. Psionic enchantment (what this means in 3.5E still needs to be worked out) 4. Draconic physical abilities. Starting at Stage VII of the metamophosis, the dragon has his BAB swapped out and replaced by that of a adult red dragon. The breath weapon deals the same damage as an adult red dragon. Stage VIII has the increases to the equivalent of old, Stage IX ancient, and Stage X Great Wyrm. The Athasian dragon also has all of a dragons attacks, as described in the 3.5E monster manual (you could change the dragon ages - my point is that it should follow this kind of system) However, I would also have the following restriction - The PrC level must be within 2 levels of the Dragon metamorphosis stages. For example, Nibenay, a stage IV dragon, could be a minimum of 2nd level in the dragon PrC, to a maximum of 6 level in the PrC. The PrC never exceeds 10 levels total, even if the dragon is at the 10th stage of metamophosis. This Athasian dragon fits with the feeling of the setting, and it shows how a sorcerer-king could maintain his rule for thousands of years, the only other true threats being other dragons. It also makes clear why some wizard/psions will go to any length to become dragons. |
