Epic Destiny: Advanced Being
Your mastery of psionics combines with your other powers to transform your very body into a legendary form that you use to change the world to fit your philosophy.
Prerequisite: 21st level; completion of an Advanced Being ritual for the Form of Perfection you want to take; membership in both psionic and arcane classes, or membership in both psionic and primal classes.
Immortality:
Once you start this destiny, you no longer die as a result of aging. However, this is only the beginning. Be it a Dragon, Spirit of the Land, or Avangion, you slowly transform throughout the epic tier until you reach the your ultimate form. This is your destiny and the true meaning of immortality, to reach physical perfection and change the fate of your world.
Psionic Enhancement (24th): you gain the ability to use psionics to enhance your arcane or primal powers. Once per encounter, you may use any psionic power you know, without expending it and even if you have already expended it, simultaneously with an arcane power if you are a Dragon or Avangion, or a primal power if you are a Spirit of the Land. Apply effects of the power and damage you are enhancing this way first, then apply the psionic power's effects and damage if still applicable.
You may also expend a psionic power to give a +2 bonus to any ritual check. A power expended in such a way does not come back until you complete an extended rest.
The Form of Perfection: Chose Spirit of the Land, Avangion, or Dragon. You will gain benefits and a physical transformation specific to that choice throughout the progression of steps as detailed below. Changing to a different form later is very difficult, dangerous, requires epic rituals, the sacrifice of levels, and represents a change in the character's dearest-held ideologies. Needless to say, only one was brave enough to attempt it.
Additionally you need access to the psionic and arcane power sources to become a Dragon or Avangion, or access to the Primal and Psionic power sources to become a Spirit of the Land. You need to be good to become an Avangion, neutral or good to become a Spirit of the Land, and evil to become a Dragon. You cannot gain any step of the Form of Perfection until you have the proper alignment. If you are an Avangion or Spirit of the Land, you cannot gain any step of the Form of Perfection if you have Defiler's Corruption, whereas if you are a Dragon, you cannot gain any step of the Form of Perfection if you don't have Defiler's Corruption. You cannot gain any step in the Form of Perfection unless you successfully cast an Advanced Beign Ritual. The rituals are detailed in the ritual section [to a book that doesn't exist ha ha].
Avangion's Form I (21st level): You gain a fly speed (hover) equal to your speed. Your reflex defense increases by 2, and you are considered to always have a preserver's circle, as described in the feat of the same name, around you and moving with you at all times as an aura effect.
Avangion's Form II (24th level): You gain overland flight and resistance 10 to all damage. Your preserver's circle-like aura increases by 2. You gain a +4 bonus to diplomacy checks.
Avangion's Form III (30th level): You gain an aura equal to your preserver's circle, which increases by an additional 2 at this level. You, your allies, and plants in your aura gain regeneration 5.
Spirit of the Land's Form I (21st level): Choose a terrain: rock, forest, plains, or dessert. While on your chosen terrain you gain concealment and a burrow speed of 5. You take on an appearance reminiscent of the chosen terrain, increasing your fortitude defense by 2.
Spirit of the Land's Form II (24th level): You are not affected by difficult terrain. You get +2 to endurance checks. Your fortitude increases by an additional 2. Your strength increases by 10.
Spirit of the Land's Form III (30th level): You become immune to poison damage and gain resist 15 vs natural (not magical or psionic) hazards and environmental effects. You may alter the land around you as if you were in the elemental chaos. You gain the utility power Spirit of the Land's Stance.
Dragon's Form I (21st level): Your strength increases by 3, as does your armor defense. You gain proficiency with your weaponless attacks.
Dragon's Form II (24th level): Your strength increases by 2, as does your armor defense. In place of an epic destiny Utility power at level 26, you gain the ability to breathe fire at level 24, as per the Dragonborn racial power Dragon Breath, but the damage type must be fire, as you breathe super-heated sand.
From 24th-26th level, you feel compelled to rampage at the beginning of each day for 3 hours, and lose control (become an NPC if you aren't already) for that time. You lose access to your previous form and use only natural attacks and your breath weapon during rampages.
Dragon's Form III (30th level): You gain resist 10 to fire and psychic, and cannot be harmed by creatures below epic level.
Your Dragon Breath deals an additional 2d6 damage, and an ongoing 5 damage (save ends) and becomes a power that recharges on a roll of 4,5, or 6. You may treat Dragon Breath as an arcane power for purposes of combining it with psionic powers as per the psionic enchantment feature.
Size Increase (starting at 22nd): Your normal size increases by one category at every other level, to a maximum of gargantuan. While this means an increase in mass for Dragons and Spirits of the Land, Avangions actually get lighter with each level, but still gain gigantic, diaphanous bodies. You gain the ability to polymorph into your original form or your Advanced Being form as a minor action. You lose none of your Form of Perfection benefits as a result of being polymorphed into any form. You stop increasing size if you do not meet the alignment requirements for you chosen Form of Perfection.
Communion with Vortexes (28th): You gain the attention of one of the Living Vortexes, strange beings thought to have died off, and make a connection with it. Any allies or followers you have can multiclass as Templars as long as they believe in you. You don't gain any special control of this power, and cannot turn it off. You can gain this power before thirtieth level by slaying another being that has already made such a connection, such as the Dragon Kings, in which case their Living Vortex switches its favor to you and their templars lose their powers unless they start to believe in you.

Advanced being ritual:
Advance Form of Perfection: Requires rare regents, such as the bones of an enemy of your cause, perfect orbs of obsidian, prescribed actions and quests, structures not included in the base cost, and ancient texts. Cost: 15,000, plus all healing surges. Time to cast: Three months.
The same ritual is used for all three levels, but the price and casting time doubles with each ritual. Success of the ritual is also dependent on the skill check result, as follows:
34: Successful transformation into the first form of perfection.
38: Successful transformation into the second form of perfection.
42: Successful transformation into the third form of perfection.
+10 beyond what is required: advance one size category earlier than is normally dictated by the Size Increase feature.
At a +20 DC difficulty, one can skip to the second form, and at an extra +35 difficulty, the third. Doing so will require even more elaborate actions designed to boost the skill check. Skipping to more advanced forms does not increase your level, but the DM may still deem it unbalancing for a PC and rule it cannot be attempted. Needless to say, whatever transformation the player takes should be a major event and will take up the majority of the player's time and quests. As with all epic destinies, it's good to consult with your DM about how you want to attempt the transformation.

I've still not thought of the Avignon or Spirit of the Land's LVL 26 utility powers...
Seems a little too complicated, but you are getting there. BTW, it is spelled avangion. |

tais-toi, vous bouffon canadienne:P |
| #5claytoniantombApr 08, 2009 0:53:10 | All spelling errors of that nature edited out. Now, any thoughts on mechanics? |
| #6brun01Apr 08, 2009 8:00:46 | I think the rules are OK, but I think you should split it into 3 different destinies, as it gets really complicated IMHO to follow all the rules combined together. Also, I think they're getting too many abilities and no powers.
I think you should have arcane/psionic for dragon and avangion, divine/psionic for elemental, primal/psionic for SotL. So that's 4 different destinies. |
| #7claytoniantombApr 08, 2009 23:27:20 | What powers would you suggest for these epic destinies?
Alas it appears that they really do need to be split up. As long as they gain the keyword "Advanced Being", I will be happy.
Also, I can't recall much about Elementals... I no longer have the Dragon Kings book. |
| #8brun01Apr 09, 2009 10:45:58 | I have no idea about powers, because I have no idea how to make defiling and dragon magic work under 4e... Pennarin is the 4e wiz. |
| #9PennarinApr 09, 2009 18:20:23 | LOL |

Yeah I'm not sure what you mean by dragon magic...
Whatever you want to do, you can make a power or a ritual for it.
I did a thing on psionic enchantments above and feats/powers here |
| #11brun01Apr 10, 2009 1:10:28 | dragon magic is using animal life instead of plant life to fuel your spells. |
