Some of the more popular are obviously out- Demigod, Chosen, Punisher of the Gods...Godslayer...Saint, Archangel, Avatar of Anything...anything to do with the divine power source or referencing the Gods in any way shape or form. Albeit perhaps unintentionally, the removal of anything divine from the setting takes a big fat chunk of the available EDs out of contention. If your dude can't be a Demigod, what exactly are they going to be? |

Actually might start this if I ever get a player to go along with it. How many dieties would you put into your campaigns if starting from scratch? How many players would have to ascend into godhood before you allowed full divine power source back into the game? or how many years after ascention? |

The prospect of each advanced being getting an ED equivalent already makes me think that there will be quite a number of them (greater elemental priests, avangions, and dragon-kings!), and most of the martial ones will be worked in easily, as well. That being said, we can't really tell if they will actually be good, optimal choices until we see them. But personally, the original thing that drew me to DS was that there was a good chance of literally turning into a dragon if you achieve that level of power. (It was easier said than done, though. @_@) I've since grown a deeper love for the setting overall, but that remains as one of the draws for me. |

I would even encourage (or at least work with players) to make the Divine power source class off limits, but I like the idea of PCs breaking the mold; changing the world in big meaningful ways. I think letting the PCs become demi Gods is a good thing. Let them tear the Grey that separates Athas from the rest of the planes, or let them become Gods at the conclusion of your campaign; the PCs become the future source of divine power. It would take some re-flavoring at low epic becuase of the divine type epic destinies do focus on becoming the prime example of a particular god. Also there is the tricky part that some of the EDs require a divine PC background. As with many things careful thought would have to go into each individual case; worked out between PC and DM. |
