I am makeing a game that will just be a fill in when our main campaign DM is out of town for work. Now I wry very new to DS and wants to know if anyone ran a gladiator/arena fighting game an how it went. I want to still be able to use the survival aspects of DS but with fighting in an arena I feel they will be able to exaust everything each day which would bring out non of the DS survival feel. Remember not a main campaign but néed one that will last or fillers. I limited the 2 pcs I have(yea only 2) to only being able to play classes without and type of magic and no leader classes. I want to control the healing to give a more survival arena gladiator feel.
Let me know what you guys think and how I can still make it feel like DS but never really venturing to the desert...
Thanks

The idea that they can't have a healing class is a bit of a stretch. I can see not having a Cleric story-wise, but having a Warlord or a Ardent(think thats the right one) is necessary unless you pull a lot of punches.

As far as survival days in the arena, they wouldn't need them if they are inside cities. They dont have to worry about the heat of the sun, the sandstorms, or mirages.

Maybe have it that after each fight during the day they are placed into the training room or a rest area to get ready for their next match. Allows them to have a short rest to use healing surges. And every night they get gruel that acts as their survival day, allowing for them to get an extended rest.

Something a lot of people seem to use for Arena is appealing to the audience. Doing coup'de gra on downed opponents and show boating. Is there a table for something like this, indecently?  I know there are different games in the DSCS.

I see where tour coming from with the healer being necessary but with one I'm not sure they will get the feel of arena.
Now the coupe de grace if that hits and works out for me that pc is dead right? Lol
Also im trying to give them the feel of being a slave gladiator so if they don't get fed then they dont get a extended rest so they wouldnt gain full health and the use of dailies. Is that to ruff?

Depends on how many encounters your having per day. After five equal level encounters they will probably run down all their encounters and dailies. Faster if you only have two people. Make sure they arent completely left out to dry, otherwise they might feel like your trying to purposefully kill them.

Check to see how much damage your encounters will do versus the HP of the players. You're already working with a small amount of players, if you had four or five I could see doing something like this, but I would still advice against removing extended rests, unless you just give them back their healing surges or something.

So we played last night and I set up the games for them. I act had it take place right before the fall of the sorcerer king. I wanted them to feel the slavery and the lack of freedom they had and that there life was meaningless and if you don't fight you die. So I had 1 day of games which they and I enjoys a lot. Arena is always fun. Anyways. After the second day of games and 7 days total I them had the sorcer king killed grantin all slaves there freedom. My players were stunned at his death and then over noted to hear they are free men.

So now, there master offered them a deal. They can leave as free men with no gold weapons or anything or thy can be free men when in Tyr and all the time but when in other citiesthey have to act as my slaves. They wantto still do arena style fighting which is cool but I also want them to experience what dark sun really is. So they sill be traving to other cities to participate in there arena matches since they like the fight to the death aspect and usuallybrings more money.

I want to know what more I can do to immerse them into DS.. My first time DMing DS and there fist time playing.

Thanks
