| #1ayinMay 17, 2009 16:30:03 | Hi guys, i'm back to Dark-Sun after some years of classic fantasy settings. Some weeks ago my love for Athas sprung out again and i started to elaborate a new set of adventures for my roleplaying group. They are all new to the setting so i'm basically doing all the work, i'm even making characters and their bgs and that's where i need your help. I have 7 players and so far i have made this group: Rhaval: Elf (44yo) Psion (Seer)/Mage (Preserver) She spent the first years of her life into a monastery at an unknow location. She was born with the gift of the seer, and sometimes she recieved visions from the future. In the underground floor of the monastery, the monks were protecting a portal to a small pocket into the Black. The called it the Black Pool. They used the pool as part of an initiation ritual for their members, as a direct source of study of the dark dimension and as a traveling system. The monks were all in fact shadow mages and they bought the infant Rhaval from a slave merchant in the city of Raam. One day the monastery was attaccked by an estremist faction of Preservers that wanted to eradicate the Black Mages from Athas, trying to save her, Rhaval's teacher throws the young elf into the Black Pool, hoping that the untrained girl could focus the portal powers to save her life. Rhaval emerged from the pool near Balic, unconscious. A caravan from house Tomblador found her and made her a slave again. During her days in the slave pit Rhaval tried to get a grasp on her seer powers and a night, while dreaming, she come to know of a plan to assassinate an important member of the Dynastic Merchant House of Wavir. The plan was to hide an assassin among the slaves that a minor house, associated with (in truth controlled by) house Tomblador, was going to sell to House Wavir and Rhaval was among them. To make long things short, Rhaval saved Ederos Wavir (lord Tabaros's brother) from assassination, and to reward her, the trade lord, made her the daily maiden of his youngest daughter Tarinne. Rhaval and Tarinne became close friends and thanks to the trading family contacts among the erudites of Balic, Rhaval found some teachers both for her magic and psionic talens. In the next few years, Rhaval came nearer and nearer to the Balic's Veiled Alliance, entering their ranks. There she learned taht not all the preservers hated teh black magic, and that instead, a few of them were researching the dark dimension as an alternative source of power. She developed the desire to search her first home (she had no geographic sense of her wereabouts while staing at teh monastery) to learn what happened after her escape. Knowing that, Tarinne officially freed Rhaval. Rhaval became both a researcher and an agent of the Veiled Allliance. Ayin: Half-Elf (19 yo) Psy Warrior / Mage (Preserver) Unwanted child of a Starsinger elf, Ayin was left to die into the desert a few days after his birth. Rhaval found him in the leftovers of the elf tribe's camp and assisted to a miracle when, the newborn Ayin made 2 kirre flee just by watching at them. The vision Rhaval had talked of a powerful son of the stars that would save many lives in his future and that she could have found him in the plains not far from where she was. Rhaval brought Ayin back in Balic with her and he quickly grow into a skilled fighter adept in many form of combat. He learned many spells and psionic powers that improved his sworplay and in the years he woven 'em all together into a unique fighting style. He too, sponsored by Rhaval, became a V.Alliance agent and together they had some adventures, killing defilers and salvaging old knowledges from the sands while, at the same times, still searching for teh Black Poll monastery. Ayin developed a keen strategic sense, a superb fighting style and an attitude to leadership that is developing nowdays Ba-Raal: Half Giant (30yo) Psy Warr Ba-Raal was taken from his village near the smoking crown mountains by a raiding group from Urik. The raiders were scouring the villages to get new slaves for their urikite masters. Ba-Raal was leter re-sold, together with some more half giants, to a defiler named Serred that was making some genetic/magic research/experiments to develope again the spell that firstly created the half giant race. Ba-Raal was tortured and disfigured and the experimens made on him awakened his latent psionic powers (biofeedback). That kept him alive long enough to be saved form Ayin and Rhaval, hunting for Serred. They found the half giant tied to a stone slab on the brink of death, Rhaval wanted to end his suffering, Ayin, instead, decided to spare his life and healed him with a potionfruit. Ba-Raal joined the duo, and fueled his newfound psionic powers with his rage, increasing his unarmed melee prowess. He does wear a mask to hide all the scars on his face, and covered most of his body with tatoos for the same reason. Ba-Raal is blindly loyal to his saviors and would protect them with his own life Chu-Tik: Thri-Kreen Ranger Nith: Halfling (class undecided Rogue or Bard? Rogue/Barbarian maybe?) i have developed only two thing for this char so far he sharpened his teeth, making them a weapon and that he can psionically find someone if he tastes the pray's flesh. Borr: Dwarf Earth Cleric Unamed Unclassed seventh Char Can you all, maybe, help me to develop the unfinished chars and their connection to the group? Thanks ![]() P.S.: Sorry in advance for the grammar erros that you will find in tha things i wrote, english is not my main language. |
| #2Band2May 20, 2009 14:04:15 | Well first a correction. On Rhaval House Wavir does not support slavery. They have no slaves and refuse to traffic in slaves. So they probably would not have purchased her in the first place and would not later have to set her free. Maybe she was part of a slave shipment that the Wavir forces were suppose to raid and free so that one of them could make the assassination, and Rhaval prevented that, becoming friends with Tarinne. How about this for Chu-Tik: Thri-Kreen Ranger: When Chu_tik was hatched, the seer of his pack prophesized a special destiny for him. Chu-tik would be the one to find the reincarnation of Guk-‘tck-quk, a semi-mystical thri-kreen ancestor who is said to return with important and dire wisdom to save the thri-kreen. Once he became of age, Chu-tik was told of his destiny. Then he was cast out of his clutch never to return or join another clutch until he has found Guk-‘tck-quk. This was done by the leaders of his clutch to force Chu-tik to travel widely and met many thri-kreen packs in order to find the reincarnated Guk-‘tck-quk. Unable to form a clutch-bond with any other thri-kreen Chu-tik eventually met and formed a bond with Rhaval and the other adventurers. They fill the need he has for a clutch, taking the place of his thri-kreen clutch-mates until he can fulfill his destiny. |

| #4Band2Jun 05, 2009 11:55:25 | Do you still need some help? Borr: Dwarf Earth Cleric Borr was banished from his clan in the desert south of Celik. There the members of his clan have labored for years on a dream to construct a proper digging device that would break through the bedrock the village is on to expand the tiny oasis that sustains them. The past three generations of Borr's family have all made that their focus and fail. Their banshees haunting the wastes near the village. Borr's mother expected him to follow in his father's path and succeed and thus lay his father to rest. But Borr heard the calling of the Stone and became a earth cleric. When his mother learned that Borr would not dedicate his life to the same focus as his father, she grew very angry with him. She convinced the clan head that Borr should be banished, so the clan head, Borr's great uncle, banished Borr never to return to the oasis. Borr feels that the Stone will reveal to him a way through the bedrock but that he is too inexperienced to understand, and believes the closer he comes to learning the ways of Stone the better he will understand. When he does he plans to return to the village and fulfill his father's focus. But for now he has traveled to Balic, seeking teachers. |
