Fellows of the Dark Sun forum!

The Verdant Passage, page 6, tells us that there were two high templars during the reign of Kalak. We know that there was a high templar of "the King's Works" and a high templar of "the King's Games." We also know that there was a high templar of the King's Safety (VP, 322). What are the high bureaus of the other high templars however? I am not sure. City-State of Tyr is a poor source for this matter, as the fleshing out of the templarate in that publication was not of the highest caliber. Any ideas?

I am playing with High Templar of the King's Army, Administration and City Guard.

Perhaps King's Fields, Kings Armies (Legions?) and King's Mines.

What of the central offices?

Armies, Guards, Administration?

You tell me.

Also, what is the "rank" of Styan, the senior templar commander of the templar contingent in The Crimson Legion. Do templars of Tyr have strict ranks and the appopriate insignia?

Again, you tell me.

Running little Tyrian campaign soon. Could really use the input.

I wish I could help you but it has been well over 10 years since I have read either the Verdant Passage or the Crimson Legion.

Not sure what the rank of Styan was in the crimson legion, but it could be that his templar rank has no relation to his rank in the Tyrian army. Think about the clergy in real world armies - they carry an army rank, which AFAIK, is not really related to their rank or standing within their churches.

I appreciate your interest redking. Thanks.

Hopefully there will be some more responses however. I find it unfortunate that the DS community has not made more efforts along these lines... it's hard to even run campaigns without the municiple hierarchies properly figured out. And please, no one say "City-State of Tyr." There is a "Minister Dark", in charge of "intelligent operations"... how corny and awful is that? At times... what a poorly written supplement. Once again we must turn to the novels for some sanity...

Happy darksunning all. i'll inform the community as to anything i figure out, if i do figure it out.
