My question is quite simple: How do you reach the Forest Ridge?

Are there any roads or Tunnels and if so, where are they?

It is said in the CS that the Halfing of Ogo sends every year two hundred halfling warriors to King Hamanu in Urik in exchange for a shipment of obsidian weapons and tools. but Where is the path?

THanks

You climb the ringing Mountains.

The path is hidden and known only to halflings.

You could also imagine secret tunnels or underdark routes that might allow you to traverse the ringing mountains. This would be a pretty epic dungeon crawl.

I know that I can imagine a secret tunnel and matter of fact I will add this element to my campagin as a goal for the players but I was not sure if there are "officials" secret passages

I'd  assume the default cannon is that there is no particular path or route, and the halflings make the trek slowly... on foot.

However, I wouldn't put it past Hamanu/Ogo to have a set up teleportation circles or be willing to use other magic to conduct their business; granted these things are very rare and possibly dangerous on Athas (if not to the travelers themselves then to the environment), but at their pay grade... it seems like it might be reasonable.

If there is a literal "path" above or below ground then the halflings certainly have it warded and hidden.

It could also be possible that the only "easy" route exists only through the lands within the winds, and Eldarin lead Halflings through it blindfolded Lothlórien style once a year as some sort of ritual practice, or in return for some sort of trade...  you could even say the fey road is only accessible at year and a day intervals, which would explain why the Eldarin there would take such a big risk, since this is their ONE shot each year to have any sort of interaction with external trade.

Word of what is "really" going on wouldn't necessarily get out, given that all the Halflings would know is that they go somewhere and wait with blindfolds on, then someone puts a hand on their shoulder and after a brief walk they are in the tablelands, and they would be unlikely to put their own forest at risk by mentioning even that to anyone.

If you don't mind going by the old setting information there was a trade route between Ogo and Urik.  The exact path was only known to one or two Trade Houses and the servents of Hamanu.  Of coarse the path was frought with danger and many of the trade caravans where lost to Halfling Raiders (who wheren't in on the agreement).

There are a few other passes over the mountains, but not are well traveled, because no one but Urik engages in regular trade with the halflings.  The Verdent Passage novel (at least I think that was the one) mentions a pass that sounds little better than goat path over the mountain (very dangerous).

I think the "Hungry Hungry Halfling" is actually a bar in one of Tyr's bad neighborhoods.

The original campaign material for Dark Sun had you climb the mountains and had suggestions for rock slide hazards and the effects of low oxygen on the PCs.  My favorite part was the suggestion that since the PCs won't understand the science of altidude sickness that they might attribute the effects to a curse or other magical malady of the mountains.

How do you get to the forest ridge?

Slowly,
Painfully, and
normally with less companions than you started with....

Our old group included a forest ridge halfling, who made us promise never, ever to go to the forest ridge with him.

Why?

Because then I'd have to give you to the chief as a tasty tribute

Either The Verdant Passage or one of the adventures has the PCs pass through the Ringing Mountains. The pass used might have a name. It might also be on one of the old map close-ups of the Tyr area.
