Is Rajaat still powerfull?

Feb 07, 2009 9:56:08 Hi, I didn't read the any of the novels like Prism Pentad, having been warned by most threads what bad books they are.

Rajaat is clearly the BBEG (big bad evil guy) of the green age and through discovering arcane magic and defiling, sends his Champions of the apocalypse to cleanse the world. Champions turn on him and lock him into 'The Black' (ominous sound) where he has been for what like a millenia and a half?

Is Rajaat still powerful? Why? He's been twiddeling his thumbs emprissoned in the black (with nothing there).

Meanwhile, his Campions have grown stronger, reached further in the transformation (especially Champion Borys, Butcher of dwarves). Rajaat hasn't even started the transformation right? (requires the lense right?)

Is Rajaat still the BBEG of the Crimson Age(if that's what it's called)? If so how can we explain this? His cv is shows a pretty big gap since his last achievement.

Feb 07, 2009 13:18:13 While Rajaat hasn't gained so much as one experence point in the last two thousand years, he is still the single most powerful being in all of known Athas. In the fifth book he escapes for a little while - the sun reverts back to Blue Dwarf stage, Rajaat kills Tectuktitlay in the first round, banishes Andropinis in the second. All the while Hamannu, Lalali-Puy, Nibenay and the Heros of Tyr are powerless to stop him.

As for the Prism Pentad - they're not that bad, not award winning writing or anything but more than readable enough.

Blue Age
--The Rebirth
Green Age
--The Time of Magic
--The Cleansing Wars
Age of the Sorcerer-Kings (or Brown Age)
--Decade of Heroism

I would think the Crimson Age will be the next age [add whitty remark here] :P

The PP is readable its just some of the ideas in it are stupid and they do some drastic things to the setting.

So if the books are not too bad I might pick them up. Can't be much worse than some of the dross i've read (yes I'm looking at you here "The Thousand Orcs" )

The 'BROWN' Age? ... seriously? .. wow. Who came up with that?
Also: the decade of Heroism? .. seems kind of strange to call it that, not very survival genre.

Feb 08, 2009 9:33:41 If they were naming the ages after colors and the current world they live in is mostly desert and waterless and treeless I think Brown Age works. The people were too depressed to come up with anything witty and epic ;).
