Also, don't hesitate to post here your new monsters, or existing monsters reskinned! Destrachan: MM1 lists them as dungeon dwellers...but instead they can be subterranean dwellers that come out at night in packs to hunt above the dunes. These blind creatures use sounds to fool a party into thinking they're a herd of harmless animals (so says the description, and the stats provide a good Bluff score). They run fast, they daze with sound, and can even stun. They have a weird crodlu-like appearance, which I imagine they would use to pass as crodlus so as to better hunt amidst crodlu herds. |

Orcs per se such might not fit, but imagine if you will a tribe of tough feral desert nomads, bred into monstrousness through decades/centuries of inbreeding and mutation (like the family in The Hills Have Eyes but moreso). Such could be orcs in all but name, perhaps even being called by the name of the dimly remembered monsters they now resemble. Otyughs: Perhaps instead of infesting trash heaps and sewers, they could lair beneath the mud (or even the water) of isolated oases, dragging thristy travellers to their doom. |

| #4GrummoreMay 20, 2010 9:23:07 | Everything the SK cleansed CANNOT be there. The first I think of is the GNOME, eradicated by Gallard (Nibenay). This is a big no no it cannot reappear. Very simple. |
| #5603May 20, 2010 9:29:59 | Kruthik- no changes required. They tunnel under the sands of Athas. Hyena- no changes needed. Probably found in some of those verdant plains beyond the tyr region. Hook Horror- they live in the caves at the base of the Ringing Mountains. At night they come out and drag off unsuspecting adventurers. Helmed Horror- Guardians of the Pristine Tower, leftover from the Green Era. They slaughter every mutant they can find, which is why so few mutants escape. Crocodile- no changes requires. I'm guessing these are some of the "nicer" creeps that like to hang out at oasises? Chuul- Another oasis predator. Battlebriar- Created by the halflings atop the ringing mountains, who then lost control of them early in the Brown Era. They like to prey on isolated adventurers. Naga- Yet another oasis predator. Rakasha- Can we all say "evil Pyreen"? Shambling Mound- another monstrosity of the forests atop the Ringing Mountains. Vine Horror- yet another forest monstrosity. The Halflings up there must've been really bored, or just lost control of their constructions very easily. |
| #6digglesMay 20, 2010 16:36:01 | I reskinned the lvl 1 scorpion into a lvl 2 brute and gave it a bunch of broodling minions. I also plan to use some trogs that are infesting the iron mines and the party has to clear them out. ![]() |

| #8digglesMay 22, 2010 13:48:49 | How did you link those from the Monster Builder? I can't figure it out. Copy as image > paste into MS Paint baby Save as jpg Upload to your photos on WoTC forums |
| #9sir_sparhawkMay 22, 2010 18:02:21 | Thank you Diggles. Here's a fun halfling I created and added an aura for some Athasian flavor. ![]() |
| #10digglesMay 22, 2010 18:55:18 | its a bit small. Once you have the image copied from MB, FILE > NEW in paint and then paste. That way you'll avoid all that extra white |
| #11sir_sparhawkMay 23, 2010 3:26:21 | Yeah now I'm trying to figure out how to make it bigger. The Aura says, "Frenzied Feast: Aura 1; When an enemy creature starts its turn adjacent to the Halfling Forest Canabal, it takes 2 damage from the halfling biting in to its flesh in an attempt to eat its victim." Just something fun I thought of adding to make halflings a little more frightening. Of course if something like this is not in the printed material I might take it out...but then again...maybe I won't. lol |
| #12digglesMay 23, 2010 4:28:55 | You dont think thats a little too powerful that the halfling gets free damage, not attack rolls? I would think they operate like Stirge or something where they have to land an attack then they clamp down and chew on you heh |

Having them able to snap at adjacent targets like that would make them feel a bit like those zombie halflings from The Mummy returns. |
| #14sir_sparhawkMay 23, 2010 21:46:21 | Hey....they're hungry. |
| #15digglesMay 25, 2010 16:41:47 | Heres a new one I just whipped up. A Diger, inspired from the show where Dave Salmoni helped train 2 captive breed Tigers to hunt in an African reserve (which appears to have been a fraud). I picture that is the size of a tiger but has the coloration of a Liger![]() The party will fight a pair of these in the Arena after they are captured and arrested for a bar fight, which is turns out they were defending themselves from mercenaries from a cult! Whatcha think? If I understand the rules correctly, since the charge is a move action with a bonus free attack, the tiger can also take a standard action swipe with its claws in the same round. |
| #16GrummoreJun 10, 2010 7:51:12 | Kenku ? |
| #17wraith_formJun 14, 2010 3:08:04 | After the fierce battle at Encounters, and seeing the stats for the Anakore and Shadow Bride in wizards.com/dnd/Article.aspx?x=dnd/dramp..." title="wizards.com/dnd/Article.aspx?x=dnd/dramp...">this article, I'm guessing that ALL damage should have at least an extra die added to it, i.e. a standard level 5 Lurker does 1d8+4 damage--but in DS it does 2d8+4, a level 7 Brute does 2d8+6 damage--but in DS it does 3d8+6 damage, or a Level 13 Soldier does 2d8+8 damage--but in DS it does 4d6+7 damage. At least as a rough guideline, adding an extra dice worth of damage for all attacks seems to be the standard on Athas! Halfling Forest Canabal By the way, it's "cannibal". |
| #18mouthymercJun 14, 2010 6:54:49 | Kenku ? Always been considered part of the Dark Sun setting. I think it was the Black Flames adventure that had them in it. |

Damage is apparently being increased in the new MM as a standard. I don't think it is Dark Sun specifically that has the increases. |
| #20PennarinJun 14, 2010 12:27:20 | Athas has a constellation the Ancients named the Kenku. |
