I could've done without some of the personalities (Jossi the Juggler?) in the book and replaced them for monsters. I liked the chapter devoted to customizing monsters into Athas, something I probably will be doing quite a bit. Personally a DM can never have too many monsters at his disposal. What monsters from the three monster manuals have you adapted to Athas or converted from 2e monster manuals into 4e? |

Most of the time I could care less to have minor NPC that will probably never show up in a campaign, Sorcerer Kings excluded. I'm just hoping for another book with more Dark Sun creatures. More drakes and undead would be awesome. |
| #3NyarlathotepSep 02, 2010 8:57:55 | I won't even start my first game of DS for a couple of weeks, so I am just getting started with planning things. One of the first monsters I am converting is the Stormclaw Scorpion. I want a giant scorpion for my first game but I want one that's less blatantly magical, so I am just having the thing do more damage in general rather than the lightning damage the one in the MM does. So far that's it, but I have only figured out a couple of encounters for my first game, so I am sure I will have more down the road. |

No spell casting, no spoken language. No self-aware, conagtive thought process. They are animal intelligence really, though extremely adaptable/intelligent animals. Feral dragons, if you will. | #6PennarinSep 02, 2010 14:07:19 | There's a couple of old monsters converted to 4e that you'll see once I release my DS adventure in pdf. I already had broghs, gith, gaj, and kirre, so I'll be using those from the Creature Catalog instead, but there's plenty that haven't been released yet: new gith variants, dark spiders, t'chowbs, templars (spellcasters, enforcers, and templar knights), and old-style Athasian wraiths. Plus new stuff: Athasian Feywild creatures, undead, and unique characters. |
| #7Duke5150Sep 03, 2010 9:58:24 | The playtest version of my athasian sloth is in my sig. Although the type needs to be changed from aberrant to natural and the devourers 1/turn power should read 1/round. So I'll be uploading a corrected pdf in the next few days. I'm currently working on the flailer, which I have done and I'm enjoying the way it fights. The young flailer is giving me some trouble, but I'll manhandle it into submission in the next day or so and upload it. I'v got several villichi and pyreen on the back burner. I'm reworking the nightmare beast to be more aged based, like dragons. So I'll end up with a young nightmare beast for heroic and by late epic I'll have an ancient nightmare beast to throw up against my players. Templar are getting a good amount of my time. I'll have two or three different templar per tier (general) with some city-state specific templar write ups soon after. Starting with the tyrian templar, or as I call them, the iron sentinels. I'v also got athasian shadar-kai coming sometime in the future, with a write up on the athasian gray and the black. Focusing on the different "layers" of each plane and who lives where. I want to keep the flavor of the original gray while using the newer material of 4e. So the outer layer of the gray, or the surface world reflection, will mostly be inspired by the novels and the older gaming material with slight changes, while the gray's underdark will be the domain of the devils and their slaves. I'm not gonna say how the shadar-kai fit in. I'v got more crap stewing, from athasian magical items and artifacts to racial write ups and a few adventures, including regions largely ignored in 4e DS. Oh, and of course, I'v got Rajaat the first sorcerer, Rajaat the warbringer and Rajaat the cerulean storm. Which shouldn't come as a surprise to a few people. ![]() |

| #9OneWeirdCatSep 06, 2010 10:21:40 | Yep, I have to do some more Gith Variants, but i am pleased that Lizardmen so easily convert to Psurran, Orcs convert to Tareks (which coincedentally never had stats before that I knew of), I LOVE that Gnolls are now roaming around Athas! Also more Silt runners builds. ANNND the T'chowb!! how could they forget the T'Chowb?! Really, I had the unrealistic expectation that they would provide actual lists of appropriate monsters from previous sources, but now I see how foolish that was. It is your world, populate it with what you want. But please, if you build a monster, post that Mutha for us!!! Seriously, if we all post our monsters, that is less work for us all. |
| #10DuskweaverSep 06, 2010 14:21:33 | I'm currently designing some 'sand devils' (Athasian tieflings) to fit with my take on them as servants of Rajaat. I'm also planning on redesigning the tembo as a lurker with powers that actually work and are less confusing. |
