| #1terminus_vortexaAug 29, 2010 4:43:17 | In light of the fact that I play only 3.5, but draw on 2E and 4E material for fluff and such, I've decided to pause my game and retool it for a campaign in which the characters find a way to pass through rifts between 2 different quantum possibilities of Athas. One where the 2E fluff applies, and one where the 4e fluff applies, with the crux on which both diverge being the location and time at which Borys was made the Dragon. In the 2E based world, he was canonically made at the Pristine Tower, either right before or after Rajaat was imprisoned, thus Ur-Draxa was not destroyed. In 4E, he was made in Ebe (thus creating ghost-town Ur-Draxa) and all of the new changes they made in 4e will be relevant to the plot in this world. In the 2E based world, Oronis of Kurn and the Kreen Empire will play prevalent parts in the plot, as well as the Deadlands. In the 4E based world, oronis doesn't exist, the Kreen Empire is in shambles, and the Deadlands are unknown. I think a major point of this campaign will be to retrieve specific artifacts and magic from the 4e world to help fight off the returning Messenger Rhulisti and the hordes of the Deadlands, who have been provoked by Dregoth to invade the Tyr region. |

If they are mid-level in 3.5 and established in the current history of Athas, then this may work to mix it up a bit... if they are brand new, starting out at level 1 or 3 or whatever, then are they going to have enough knowledge to put this all together? and 2) yeah, the knowledge part... this is a confusing situation even for those of us who have read and "studied" everything from Dark Sun 1990's through expansions and version 2.0 and now into 4.0... are your players up for this kinda of time/reality shift or is this going to confuse the heck out of them? More power to all of you if you guys can keep this straight!!! |
