(WoW I just noticed I put DK and not DS lol fail)

I just got into D&D, and I know everything about a Pally, but now in DS I can't make one. Anyway I need to have a new character by Wednesday at level 3. I know some of the rules, and there's some I still don't know.

Anyway I would like to find some kind of class close to a Pally. I would like any info someone can give me. I got the new character builder. If anyone can give me a class and race that would be nice.

Thanks for all of your time, and I hope there's not another post like mine. I'm bad at computers I won't lie...lol

What is it specifically that you like about Paladins? Once we know that then it will be easier to help.

I say Half-elf Ardent.  Will give you healing, still be in melee, lots of cool utilities and the party will love you just like a paladin.

If leaders aren't your thing, then go Life Warden, maybe a dwarf or a mul.  Basically a primal paladin.

Enjoy your first foray into the Athasian desert.  Good luck.

Paladin of Oronis anyone?

I read it somewhere on the web recently - you would certainly be special and unique... and would have to be secretive about where your powers come from.

I'd allow it in my campaign.

Guessing by the Wednesday and having it be level 3 there is a fair chance he is bringing the character to Dark Sun Encounters. If that is the case he just straight out can't be a Paladin.

Yeah, my suggestion would be Warden as well.  It's a defender like the Paladin, and you can certainly make the "crusader" mentality work for the Warden in Dark Sun.  Where a Paladin quests for his chosen deity, the Warden quests to restore the blighted landscape.

When I converted my paladin to a hybrid fighter|paladin, I actually felt more at home with the character's abilities than I did before.  Then again, Chupa only had 11 Wis, so Lay on Hands was pretty much reserved for keeping him vertical.

Although every class does play differently, any defender class will feel good depending on what how you played paladin.  If you were the back up healer, Ardent or Warden would be good.  If you tended to use an implement alongside your weapon, Swordmage might not be a bad choice (your weapon is your implement).  If you just want to take a beating while marking and smashing things, Fighter.
