New CB for DS Characters

Anyone try using the new CB to make some Dark Sun characters? To be honest it's a little disapointing. To start with if you import a character from the old CB you can't apply DS themes to them. And to make things worse it doesn't support fixed enhancement bonuses anymore.

So unless I'm missing something we're still stuck making Ds characters by hand I guess.

Frown

Always seems like when I decide to start a new game I always pick the ones that aren't supported by their creators. Stuff like this is why I'm not an insider.

I'm ... underwhelmed by the whole thing as well.  Particularly annoyed by the loss of the Inherent bonuses feature, which you can't apply _anywhere_

I'm also extremelyannoyed by the fact that they still don't have anything from the DSCC in the compendium ... leafing through pages in the DSCC at the gaming table isn't exactly condictive to a smooth combat.

This whole debacle has me wishing that they would just set up an API for interacting with compendium, and let people build tools off that.  Software is not the core competency, and it makes dealing with some of these things really painful.

I wrote myself a little cheat sheet with a list of the Cities, Sorcerer Kings, Veiled Alliance, and Mechant houses. Citations also incase I need more information.

Wizards is definetely tight on their intellectual property, last podcast highlights this well. Whole reason their switching from the current one is so they have control over it and so people can't torrent it.

Overkill. They should read up on Eberrach, and learn why Tyr's freedom is a step in the right direction.

I'm feeling ignored by Wizards. Completely ignored. Since the August release, there's been relatively little offered to the Dark Sun community - and I didn't expect much. My excitement has been squashed since September and I'm stuggling to keep my 4e Dark Sun game running.

Wait your campaign is suffering because you dont have CB or MB. Well that is just lame. I took everything from the 2 DS books and converted over 2E modules and had my players make Characters by hand and everything is running smooth.

A really insightful bit of knowledge:
I imported my campaign's new Dark Sun characters created with the new builder into the old character builder. It reported that they had custom Themes and it knew which Themes they had selected. The old character builder was already updated internally to support Theme data but they simply didn't add the data.

That is a damn shame. They already did the hard part but didn't finish the data entry.

It is a shame.  If only there was a way to add Dark Sun to the old CB.

You might want to be careful mentioning that sort of thing. They seem to be banning people over it.

Oh sorry, maybe I should have just linked to a thread on this very forum.
