Dec 17, 2009 3:46:14 I'm wondering how to do the pristine tower's new races for 4e. I have a feeling we won't get support for them in the august release. how would everyone do this? I am thinking something like how dhampyr bloodline was done but would something like spellscarred work? The thing is they're essentially not the race they were any more and each one needs to be unique, or at least each group has to be unique. What do people think? Any ideas?

Dec 17, 2009 6:47:09 Quite simply I would allow someone to choose a race which is not a normal part of the dark Sun mythos and let them play the mechanics, but describe themselves in the flavour they wish. This would allow for people to play races which would not normally be available in Dark Sun such as warforged, half-orc, or drow.

Dec 17, 2009 10:29:43 I'd build a race from the ground up in terms of benefits, and throw in a couple of unique racial feats or steal a few from other races and rename them.

Dec 17, 2009 16:28:03 The PT is a great plot device for anyone wanting to play a race not normal to Darksun. In an extreme case even a cleansed race could be reborn. Most "mutants" would be one of a kind.

Dec 18, 2009 0:33:32 I find unique, one-shot races the result of contact with the Tower - like Magnus the mutant elf - to be great tools for exploring personal identity and group/racial identification. Makes for highly individualized and unique RPing.

So...who's this guy, and what's his unique story? A mutant, albino Tower-shaped tarek, perhaps?

He's a Pogtalian Dragon Slayer, if I'm not mistaken. Gotta love Brom's art.
