| #1big_goonJan 27, 2011 14:12:33 | I was just reading the blog "Unboxing: Wrath of Ashardalon" and the blogger (Bartoneus) talks about the multitude of minis and cards usable in regular D&D: Quote: "The pieces that come with Wrath of Ashardalon are clearly designed with compatibility in mind and it feels like the aim was to provide a bunch of new rules, miniatures, tiles, and cards that can be interchanged between the two games with incredible ease" So... I immediately thought this would be perfect for DARK SUN! How much would you love to see a Dark Sun board game in the same style and format as the existing two board games Castle Ravenloft and Wrath of Ashardalon? Okay, here's a couple of benefits ppl on the forums have been complaining about the Dark Sun campaign that a board game would provide:
... okay, the last idea would be better served by a new complete rulebook, or at least a Dragon article. But, it's still possible on a smaller scale, no? Want a totally awesome sauce and easy automatic seller? Make a "Arenas of Athas" board game. C'mon, the arenas of Athas (unique per city-state - all spectacular) are wicked-exciting and easily customizable ways to play campaigns in regular D&D and alternative/simplified rules - like board games. Was the Bloodsands adventure not the best to be released so far...? Arenas tie-in perfectly with the Prism Pental storylines (Freedom) and is also an amazingly simple way to start a campaign. Finally, it doesn't have to be exclusive to Dark Sun... arenas are used in a multitude of settings: from the underdark of FR to the Planescaping Gith. Now, it doesn't have to be an Arena game. It could be Sea of Silt pirates. It could involve the templarate, or the cities of Athas or even recreating the Prism Pental storyline. Just arenas and slaves tend to be the most stereotyped aspect of Dark Sun. So I thought that might be a good place to start... Am I not an absolute genius? Would you not be curious about this? |
