| #1kikuhimeNov 29, 2010 14:19:34 | So I'm DMing my first D&D game/campaign ever. We've been playing for about 2 months now, and I've been DMing most of the time. So far I've run a few things including the 2 premade sets of Dark Sun stuff (the one in the Campaign Setting, and the Marauders of the Dune Sea). I reworked some of the story so that the players are starting in a small village, have retrieved the piece of the crown of storms, angered Yarnath, and earned enough money to book passage to Tyr from a Merchant House they did some work for. Now that they've reached Tyr (when we pick up this week they first get to Tyr) they'll be making contact with a Veiled Alliance member to help them deal with the whole Yarnath situation. Now for my question. The players' ultimate goals, as well as the characters' goals, is that of a freedom fighter. They've seen what happened in Tyr, and want to move on to another city and help enact the same sort of change. They've got their eyes on Urik, the closest Socerer-King controlled city. When they eventually reach Urik, is there some already-established organization they would attempt to contact/join/help in overthrowing Hamanu? From the book descriptions of Urik and Hamanu, the citizens sound to be rather supportive and loyal to their king. So would there be another City they should set their sights on instead? Some city ready to embrace revolution? |

AgainĀ you guys are what level, if you arent even epic teir yet starting a revolution... will most likely get all of your players killed all the SKs are at least level 21 and could leave all the PCs blood stains with a wave of the hand at low levels. Hamanu especially do to his Finaticaly well practiced and well armed party. What I would do is find a city (any will really do but really dispicable SKs such as Ablache-Re and Nibiney (sp?) ) would be good choices to work at proving your mettle and slowly build fame for Heroic, Make bigger differences in paragon and finally have enough support in Epic teir to get the ball rolling for revolution. But thats just my two cents |

The Sirdars are the upper class and seem to get what they want out of Hamanu. There is Silan the Serpent would probably like the idea of social unrest and power plays with the fall of Hmanu. Slaves in Urik live dangerous lives working in the Smoking Crown mines. There is alweays a reason for a sorcerer king to be killed. Even if you have to make it yourself. |

So they are quite a long way off from actually fighting a Sorcer King, but I guess what I'm specifically looking for to lay the groundwork for things to come. Since there'd be the whole travelling to the city they target for revolution. then laying the groundwork, establishing allies/organizations, obtaining trinkets/items of power to help in the upcoming fight, etc. But the more I read about Urik, the less likely a target that city is, so I think I should really focus on something else. I'll take a look at Raam, and take it from there. They've got a lot of work ahead of them before facing down a Sorcerer King, but I know that's their ultimate goal, so the more groundwork, I can lay down now the more exciting it'll be as we get closer to the confrontation. |
