The Verdant Passage discusses a "quorum" of the Tyrian Senate.

How many senatorial families do we imagine there are in Tyr? I assume we could fall back on Roman precedent for purposes of a quorum number, but how many familes are there in total. Thoughts?

Also, does the senate elect among its number any magistrates? Is there a princeps senatus? All this stuff might probably matter in a detailed campaign going on in Tyr? Thoughts? Anyone?

Got some excited newbies playing in Tyr. Could use the help...

I guess most of it depends on the Age you're playing in.
I reckon that during Kalak's reign, a semblance of a senate is there, but only for day-to-day things, like carrying out stuff decided upon by Kalak's templarate. Maybe Tithian, as high templar of the King's Games & sole heir to the Mericles family, would be a member of the senate? Or maybe his father is (not sure if he's still alive)...

Anyhow, as to your question. If I were DM-ing, I would only create those NPC senate members and families that were necessary for the story and flesh everything out as you go.

You have the Mericles and Astichles compounds around Tyr, but there is room enough for at least 4 more noble family compounds I reckon. (viewing at a map of the Tyr region from inside the novel 'the Verdant Passage')

In a related note, in a rereading of The Amber Enchantress, Sadira recalls a Templar "of the King's Justice." Although this of course post-Kalak, nonetheless, the inference seems to be that this is a carry-over from those old days.

Therefore, of the six high bureaus mentioned in The Verdant Passage, we have listed four:

High Bureau of the King's Works
High Bureau of the King's Games
High Bureau of the King's Safety
High Bureau of the King's Justice
-this likely worked in tandem with the City Guard (was the City Guard officered by the templary, or were they lead by their own officers?)

The other two I have no names for from canon. I surmise the High Bureau of the King's Administration and the High Bureau of the King's Army. Any thoughts? Again I am surprised we have not filled such things in heretofore.... it's pretty necessary to know to run a detailed campaign in Tyr.
