| #2Duke5150Apr 25, 2010 3:48:48 | Rajaat's my #1, but I don't think he will beat the lady of pain. I think it's rigged in her favor. I don't think she should even be included, since the winning character will get 4e stats. Just by her being included, says a lot. Plus she's a well known fan favorite among many, many D&D fans. |
| #3603Apr 25, 2010 8:57:08 | Personally, I don't think either should be statted. If it can be statted, it can be killed. |
| #4Bly2729Apr 25, 2010 19:37:16 | If it can be statted, it can be killed. Some PCs gonna utter that while trekking through halfling infested jungles. |
| #5jrwoodchuckApr 25, 2010 19:53:01 | What is the creature competition? Link? |
| #6PennarinApr 25, 2010 21:29:19 | From WotC's main page: www.wizards.com/dnd/cc.aspx |
| #7big_goonApr 26, 2010 17:50:03 | At least he doesn't need to contend against the dreaded Rust Monster!!! |
| #8603Apr 26, 2010 20:38:52 | If it can be statted, it can be killed. Funny, somehow I never thought of it that way before. Puts it in a nice perspective. |
| #9sir_sparhawkApr 27, 2010 0:41:46 | If it can be statted, it can be killed. I suddenly have the urge to watch "Predator" after that statement. |
| #10Duke5150Apr 27, 2010 1:51:47 | If it can be statted, it can be killed. heh. ![]() |
| #11SysaneApr 29, 2010 12:32:04 | Being petty here, but I think Rajaat would have been better placed in the "Monsters and Legends" bracket than the "Wizards, Witches and Priests". That, and "The Warbringer" is a much cooler title than "Sorcerer of the Way". |
| #12PennarinApr 29, 2010 12:55:33 | Whoever corrupted the Athasian meaning of the Way by mixing it up with Sorcerer failed. Unless it refers to an advanced being mixing magix and psionics? But Rajaat wasn't supposed to be a such a being. |
| #13big_goonApr 29, 2010 13:17:51 | "Sorcerer of the Way" brings up images of Psions with cute animal familiars. Uhg. Imagine Rajaat having a pseudodragon familiar, or a cat-with-bat-wings familiar. |
| #14xlorep_darkhelmApr 29, 2010 13:30:16 | Whoever corrupted the Athasian meaning of the Way by mixing it up with Sorcerer failed. Unless it refers to an advanced being mixing magix and psionics? But Rajaat wasn't supposed to be a such a being. Rajaat is a bit more advanced than an advanced being, to be sure. Sort of the "Advanced Being's Advanced Being". Considering he was the first sorcerer, *and* psionic, it is plausible to call him a "Sorcerer of The Way"... it just doesn't capture the spirit of Rajaat's influence in the world very well, I don't think. ... it would be like calling a lightsaber a pocketknife. |
| #15jimsmaherApr 29, 2010 14:50:32 | It doesn't look promising if you read the descriptions this week side-by-side. Rajaat reads as a villainous failure, while Halaster reads as the perpetual hero-bane. Rajaat: "attempted to cleanse the entire world" Halaster: "condemned countless parties to their doom" IGNORE THE POLLSTERS: VOTE DarkSun And don't forget to Submit Buff |
| #16603Apr 30, 2010 7:04:43 | Y'know.. I'm still amazed they put Rajaat up against *Bargle* in the first round. I mean, this is freaking Bargle here. Totally wimpy heroic-tier villain (although he didn't use doppelgangers in oD&D- he actually used living crystal statues of himself, which hasn't been an option since Red Box oD&D) against something that's so powerful it one-hits dragon kings? Most fail pairing EVAR. |
| #17Bly2729Apr 30, 2010 7:52:29 |
That's what I mean, his bracket sucks. I mean everyone else is like STRAHD VS KAIUS ULTIMATE GRUDGE MATCH!! My question is, if he wins they have to show his picture right? Not just the titular "Dark Sun" with his name below it. |
| #18603Apr 30, 2010 13:00:51 | Aaand... Rajaat gets punked by someone from Forgotten Realms that I've never heard of. |
| #19big_goonApr 30, 2010 13:20:22 | Well... at least it isn't by Splug. Imagine, Rajaat, the most powerful and first sorcerer on Athas, defeated by a level 1 goblin. I mean, that's like he could get defeated by a child... :P This is a popularity contest not a real arena fight. Just like high school... People are starting to play the Encounters storyline which (I'm told) is about Undermountain. So, it was inevitable that the majority of people would choose to follow the popular choice: Halastar. Remember, there really hasn't been any previews for Dark Sun, so the majority of 4E DnD players don't know what Dark Sun is nor who Rajaat could be. Same thing happened to Lord Soth and Strahd. What about the Lady of Pain, or Vlaakith? They are wicked powerful, but died because of the popularity. I sense a theme here: 4 of the final 8 are Gods or God-like (Tiamat, Lloth, Vecna, Raven Queen) and the remaining 4 are from the Forgotten Realms. |
| #20603Apr 30, 2010 21:33:17 | Well... at least it isn't by Splug. Imagine, Rajaat, the most powerful and first sorcerer on Athas, defeated by a level 1 goblin. I mean, that's like he could get defeated by a child... :P Yeah... I'm still burned up about how FR dominated Dragon magazine for so bloody long. Then again, I suppose it could be worse. Mystara could've dominated everything. Bargle. Why the hell did they pull him out, of all creatures? |
| #21sir_sparhawkMay 01, 2010 11:01:44 |
Bargle? You think that's bad. Look at Meepo on the bottom right. Yeah that's right I said it... Meepo. |
| #22jimsmaherMay 01, 2010 20:44:31 | I'm actually relieved Hitler Rajaat lost. This way he won't have stats and he stays in The Ninth Circle of Hell Hollow at the heart of The Black. |
| #23PennarinMay 01, 2010 21:22:56 | It would have been cool just to steal those assuredly uber powers for my own campaign. |
| #24pippenainteasyNov 03, 2011 16:44:48 | Rajaat one-shotted Dragon of Tyr, Level 33 Solo. Lady of Pain got stalemated by Vecna, whose Level 35 Solo. I give it to Rajaat. |
