#1 durrell Oct 27, 2010 21:11:27	The adventure Sand Raiders in the back of the Dark Sun Campaign Guide has as treasure 20gp in ancient gold coins.  What is the value of this?  I know that gold pieces in the game are made from ceramic but these are stated as ancient gold coins.  Does this mean its real gold? or is it an older ceramic gold coin from the past? Thanks for the help. Jeff
#2 Ozmodious Oct 27, 2010 21:44:05	I would say it is ceramic to save a little trouble down the road. I see that treasure is handed out normally in DS from the modules I have seen. I cut it down to about 10% of what the books say to give. Keep them poor and wanting more.
#3 ritorix Oct 27, 2010 22:06:08	In this edition, gold coins are the same as ceramic.  By sorcerer-king fiat.  This worthless piece of ceramic has the same value, by order of the king!  Its just like a dollar bill, worthless paper. That doesnt mean gold is less valuable outside the cities.  You may say that ceramic pieces have little or no value, that some tribes dont take 'tainted' ceramic, etc.  Flashing around a bunch of old gold coins in a city could also be an adventure hook.  For my campaign I'm giving out three kinds of money.  Ceramic (minted in various cities; purely a flavor thing to describe who is paying who), gold coins (same value as ceramic, but accepted everywhere) and Favor (money only useable with a certain faction, like House Stel of Urik, that you dont carry around).  This is with the inherent bonus system, so money isnt really for buying magic items but just normal supplies and mounts, at least at Heroic tier.
