Hello all,

Im looking to create a sand themed character for darksun, what im aiming for is a PC who uses sand either in an agressive fashion (striker/controler) or a highly defensive fashion (defender/controler) preferably either primal, arcane or psionic power source.

I was thinking either a druid or warden could fill this role, (prehaps even a swordmage ensnaring build) but looking through PHB2, PP and DSCS im not finding much themed around earth/sand elements, or prehaps I have missed something.

I would like people to bring some ideas to the table, what classes, builds and DSCS theme's would be good to use for creating a character that focuses on using sand (earth). I am not looking to Home Brew anything or create new powers/builds, Im looking for things that are already there or that I can reflavour in a role play sence (not any mechanics) using exsisting material, not so much that it warps it so it doesnt fit into the DSCS, but enough to make it to what I am aiming for.

Thanks in advance.

Swarm druid?  :D  You become sand, and slip through fingers and cracks like so much powder, as well as scouring your enemies.

Beast form is completely cosmetic, so it really doesn't matter what you pretend to be.  Sand is one of the best suggestions I've heard even.

Any type of shaman would be appropriate, notably the new Elemental Spirit feature, which also lends itself well to the Elemental Priest theme, naturally.

Storm sorcerer? Just describe all your powers as sandstorms, with lightning created through friction between the sand grains, etc.

Sorcer-King Pact Warlocks also have some sand-flavoured powers (including one that lets them polymorph into sand).

The Animist Shaman gets some too.

Any character with the Primal Guardian theme gets access to several sand-flavoured powers.

Really, though, any power that deals untyped damage can be described as sandblasting the enemy to death.

Aren't there some sand-related theme powers? Wasteland Nomad?

Seconding the warlock, you can describe the concealment gained from Shadow Walk as a dust devil erupting around you as you travel, or even that you become partly made of sand.

Earthwarden would be cool.
Slow / immobilize enemies with sandstorms and small area / control attacks.
If you want to get your hands dirty with some melee
