| #3ian.thomsonAug 25, 2010 15:21:21 | Human Hybrid psion/monk (haven't chosen a theme yet, thinking dune trader since he's a merchant) - short range telekineticist, planning on taking the dreamwalker PP (since the dreamform can make implement attacks, and monk attacks are implement attacks). Half-Giant (Goliath) hybrid monk/brawler fighter with the gladiator theme: professional wrestler Thri-Kreen monk, paragon multiclassed as ranger to take the twin strike at-will: Now a melee striker OR a melee controller. Dray (Dragonborn) with that fear ability, SK pact warlock or sorcerer, templar theme, trained in intimidate: Templar of Dregoth that will scare you to death. |
| #4big_goonAug 25, 2010 15:39:44 | Athasian Minstrel/Wasteland Nomad with Vistani Bloodline feat, Elf/Eladrin, possibly Rogue or Bard or Ranger or Seeker or Feypact Warlock. Dray, Sorcerer or Wizard with Pyromancer or Wizard with Elemental Summoning, Elemental-Priest theme... or maybe a Gulgian Templar instead. Nibenay Shadow-Wife (Templar) Warlock SK-Pact with Multiclass Assassin powers (or maybe Hybrid). Mul, Escaped Slave, Barbarian with the biggest Maul possible. ...so many possibilities. |
| #5thraelAug 25, 2010 16:21:45 | Mul Fighter MC Barbarian Theme Primal Guardian (feat(ure)s meh, but both daily forms are awesome, stack with stances) PP Gladiator Champion (no shifting away, no moving away with Combat Superiority) ED Hordemaster or Human Animist Shaman (Spirit Infusion and Mountain's Might are great) MC Wizard (encounter Thunderwave, weaplements, qualification for Avangion) Theme Elemental Priest (all those unkillable spirits to occupy squares, grant buffs and enable) PP Rainbringer ED Avangion |
| #6rollawaythestoneAug 25, 2010 16:28:05 | Thri-Kreen Swarm Druid. A strange desert hermit who protects a small briny oasis caring for the plant life and crawling things. The solitude hasn't been kind on a race that is so used to being communal. He is predatory and aloof, understanding the balance of nature, life, and death. He is roused from his stewardship by the rumours that a great Sorceror-King has fallen, and he is stirred into a greater quest to rejuvenate Athas itself. Sometimes the protection of the planet may put him in conflict with intelligent humanoids and civilization itself. I would like to go with Primal Guardian theme, and then Guardian of the Land, however, that theme just doesn't give me much for my character other than fluff. I may instead go Elemental Priest and then Rainbringer, as the Druid tries to fulfill the role of some sort of savior of the natural world. Ultimately will go Pyreen, as it is closest to the mass guardian of the natural world theme. |
| #7gribbleAug 25, 2010 18:36:41 | I'm itching to play a Human Templar Hybrid Psion/Warlock in a long-term Dark Sun campaign. First level feats would be Hybrid talent to gain pact boon & the SK-pact feat that adds d6 curse damage. Later feats would be killing curse (duh), the one that lets you trigger your pact boon when bloodying an enemy, the SK-pact boon one that lets you gain a PP when triggering your pact boon, and the defiling one that lets you use defling again when spending an AP. Sorry, not so good with names... ![]() Eventually the Master Defiler PP and Sorceror King ED. Not sure how well he'd play in a party, but I think it'd be a lot of fun to play, and (finally) a decent striker warlock build. |
| #8gribbleAug 25, 2010 18:38:18 | Although, I have to admit that both the Nibenay Shadow-Wife (Warlock/Assassin) and Thri-kreen Swarm Druid also sound like a lot of fun to play... |
| #9digglesAug 25, 2010 21:01:29 | (most info copy/pasted from Character builder 'info' section) Here is an NPC from my game, which I will use if I'm ever a player anywhere. Trevor MoonRoar - LVL 3 Human Bard Trevor MoonRoar is a bard and former guard of Tyr. He now is a co-owner and bartender at the Shifting Sands (made up) tavern in Tyr. The Shifting Sands mostly caters to guards and government officials, people on the up and up. Silence is a bards worst enemy. Trevor is always trying to strike up a conversation with people, he never knows what useful information he might find. If noone is around or willing to talk, he'll often sing or hum to himself. Trevor is a jubilant cheerful fellow known to burst out into song, dance or laughter at the drop of a hat. Trevor is tall by human standards with a medium lean build. His skin is a dark caramel tone and he speaks with a Jive/jamican accent. He wears a goatee and from time to time will let his beard get scuffy. His hair is normally in short dreadlocks or hidden under a bandana. Serving in the Crimson Legion and bartending mean Trevor is a very well connected fellow. His quick wit and high charsima enable him to get nearly anything he needs either by charm, connections or his bartering/bargaining skills. Before he took a job bartending the 'Shifting Sands' Tavern, Trevor served in the Tyr guard for some years and is well respected. He served in a scout/recon position and is well versed in desert survival, stealth & tracking. From time to time he is recommisioned to help for various tasks that he is one of the few people qualified to pull off or to train new talent. |
| #10tallric_kruushAug 25, 2010 21:24:59 | Beleg Bloodclaw, Male Shifter Primal Avenger (the divine class reimagined as a Primal warrior) Beleg's tribe live a nomadic existence in the Tablelands region. They are guided by the Primal Spirits, and the greatest of their warriors are often endowed by the spirits with savage power. Beleg has started down the path of the Primal Avenger, a path that will set him against the enemies of Athas itself. The most notable among these enemies are the defilers who continue to violate Athas even as nature tries to heal itself. The Bloodclaw believe that Athas will heal, in time, but only if the destructive practice of defiling is stopped. As the tribe's namesake suggests, Bloodclaw warriors frequently fight with their claws in lieu of weapons ( I'll be using the mechanics of the Fullblade). Nothing screams PRIMAL like a blood-soaked, unarmored Shifter who just tore his enemies apart with his own two hands. It will be interesting to see how our party interact with one another, as it will feature two arcanists (a Wizard and a Artificer|Swordmage). I know they won't be playing outright defilers, but the temptation will always be there. |
| #11thecapnAug 26, 2010 0:47:50 | i'm thinking of running a dark sun campaign soon.was wondering what kinds of characters(fun ones) people have come up with.would help my pc's with making thiers.ta. gonna be off topic for a second, but woah. I drew the goblin you're using for your avatar. Many many years ago. Strange to see it out and about on the web. As for characters, one of my players is going to be a thri-kreen bard/minstrel who performs using "the song of her people", which involves one part screeching and one part interperative dance (that only kreen can interperet). The rest of the players are so far undecided themselves, or have characters not worth mentioning in this thread. |

| #13smeejAug 26, 2010 2:02:57 | My character in DDI is a Draji Monk Templar securing treasure for Draj and infiltrating Tyr. He basically plays like Batman, if Batman defiled and ripped out hearts. |

| #18kourinAug 26, 2010 12:35:06 | My character, Zaira, is a Changeling (modified to a n appearance mind-changing human subrace) Cunning bard, Templar theme (Nibenay) MC Warlock (SK pact) with a Z'tal familliar my DM created (hairyscotsman2) (unless there are going to be specific 4e ones coming up). She will be drawing heavily from her theme unless there's a spectacularly better choice as a Bard. |
| #19wizardofworOct 08, 2010 11:31:36 | I have a Thri - Kreen Wasteland Nomad Archer Ranger who uses Chatckas as opposed to Bow and Arrow. He has sure shot as his daily; begin the hunt as his utility. |
| #20wizardofworOct 08, 2010 11:33:13 | I am also toying with a Teifling Psion, because they make such good psions. Maybe as an antagonist npc for my campaign. |
| #21angelus_obscuraOct 08, 2010 11:54:19 | Here's the one I'm currently playing ... Profile Your companion goes by the name of Solusandra; Andra among friends. It is a strange and archaic name, with no etymological hint of its origin. It is a name befitting a woman with no history and no home. When she does speak of her past, one would think she is either mad or lying, as her tales paint impossible scenarios of blue skies and endless oases with water enough to kill a man. People would dismiss her stories as the ranting of a sunwarped mind if it were not for the keen awareness behind her qu33r, orange eyes. She is an eerily perfect specimen of her race (human). Tall and statuesque, Solusandra towers over most men at 5 foot and 11 inches. A figure of perfect frame and sensual curves is clothed in creamy ivory skin, flawless and untouched by the sun or rigors of the elements. Her flowing mane of honey blond hair is braided and tied with leather thong, which is then draped over a shoulder. All gazes, however, return to those strange orange eyes of hers. Eyes that have no pupils, giving people the impression that she is blind. Despite the extreme Athasian climate, she wears only thin, loose clothing that somehow resists blowing in breezes. Over a simple linen tunic, she is garbed in a brilliantly white silk stola that shimmers with trapped heat. A palla is wrapped about her head and shoulders, protecting her from windblown dust and sand. The shawl also serves to hide the obsidian spellshard hanging from a chain around her neck, something a commoner will likely associate with the hated spellcasters. Her only weapon is a walking stick, a rod of polished hardwood with a rather large opal for the pommel. If you didn’t know better, you would think she is a Balican noble. Solusandra moves with effortless grace and efficiency, seeming to glide across the floor. In combat, she strikes her foes without even lifting a single hand, throwing her enemies around like children's toys. She is a practitioner of the Way, a psionicist who needs no weapon but her mind. When fully manifesting her power, her eyes glow bright and flames lick her hair without burning it. As a telekine, a halo of light appears around her brow when directing her telekinesis. But with conscious effort, she can suppress any visible sign of her abilities. As fearless as she is on the battlefield, she is just as bold out of it. Even without using her psychic abilities, she can read a person or situation with the best of them. If a person proves too stubborn or dumb to be influenced, she uses her telepathy to cow him/her/it into submission. However, you discover she is unfamiliar with the cultures and peoples of the current Age. Her mannerisms and speech is too formal and stiff, referencing things that people have long forgotten or offending people with preconceived notions. For example, she was shocked upon discovering that all dwarves were illiterate and that no one knew what a gnome was. What she lacks in social grace, she more than makes up for in adaptability and ingenuity. In her spare time, she uses her psychic abilities to mend broken objects and weapons as well as serve as a universal translator. She is a true daughter of her race, for time and ages-old experience has not diminished her enthusiasm or rampant curiosity. |
| #22BRJNOct 08, 2010 21:43:15 | Narvik Dwarven druid future Caravan Master PP probable future Hordemaster ED (because I like the come-back-to-life feature - Lawrence of Arabia!) I actually built this character to optimise the "Run a Caravan from City to City" skill challenge. By paragon, I want to be able to optimise "Survive in the Desert" also. Narvik is literate - member of a merchant house - but his goal is to learn to read/write Dwarven. He thinks the secret to restoring Athas is hidden in a book in some old dwarven ruins somewhere. (Of course he hasn't read the True History of Athas sidebar.) Did I mention that he is a dwarf? Being a caravan master gives him an excuse to leave town from time to time, and access to the resources he needs to explore likely old buildings. Add-endum: In cities, his "beast form" is more of a feral human look (big claws for fingernails, &c). He does not want to advertise his primal abilities before the Templars, after all. When he is in the wilderness fighting its denizens, he will actually animal form. He likes to turn into commonly domesticated animals while with a caravan. If things go REALLY badly, he can blend in with the scenery while figuring out a counter-stroke. |
