| #1Silverblade_The_EnchanterMay 24, 2008 7:52:41 | Since the forum's have got changed, gonna consolidate my Dark Sun art thread! ![]() Artist's info FYI, I mostly use Mojoworld for these Dark Sun art pics. Most of my other work is done with Vue6 Infinite, but I love Mojoworld for it's ability to make weird, alien landscapes ;) I also use Rhino3d (to make models), Poser, Paint Shop Pro & Photoshop (for postwork), and particle Illusion 2 SE (for special effects). My apps are legit, I do lot of tutorials n' stuff about them on art sites. I've been making digital art for abut 10 years almost, now. I don't do art for folk, sorry, very ill in RL, so, short of WOTC asking me to make custom stuff :D , 'fraid the answer is "no" if you'd want art made for you. Art helps me cope with being ill, don't want to be made worse, stress = pure poison for me. If you want to learn how to do such stuff, always glad ot help, lot of free tutorials on my site too. ![]() |
| #2Silverblade_The_EnchanterMay 25, 2008 14:53:32 | Not actually DMing at the moment Will be next week.Pictures usually take a day to make, say 5--6 hours of messing around to create them, then 1 hour rendering on my quad core. it can vary though. I don't work (disabled) so make constructive use of my free time ![]() |
| #3Silverblade_The_EnchanterMay 26, 2008 8:43:03 | My Spelljammer pics, sort of, take a LOT more time, since it usually takes 3 weeks or so to make each ship ![]() |

| #5Silverblade_The_EnchanterMay 26, 2008 15:56:05 | Havard, *bows* ta! ![]() 'fraid not, I only do stuff I know and love, 'cause I can "see" it and get the "feel", you know ? ![]() I do want to do "generic" D&D piccies, but at moment, Dark Sun and Spelljammer are my fave to work on, sorry ![]() |

| #20Silverblade_The_EnchanterSep 12, 2008 17:57:35 | Sixaloa, Cheers bud! ![]() be my guest, art's for sharing. Happy for folk to use my stuff, long as it's not commerical, or they don't try claiming THEY made it. And it's nice when the ask first before putting it on a site etc ![]() |
| #21KamelionSep 12, 2008 19:18:56 | Sixaloa, Cool - in that case, can I please use your Kobold Canyons piece as a banner across the top of the site for my DS game? Looks very fine with the old DS logo superimposed on top of the landscape. A buddy came over today to talk about his character and your Dark Sun Dawn piece was up on my desktop. His reaction was something along the lines of "holy crap, that's amazing!" Most impressed by your work ![]() |
| #22Silverblade_The_EnchanterSep 12, 2008 19:30:10 | Kamelion, be my guest ![]() Russian fella asked to use my stuff on his site, but he never got back to me, most odd. Kewl!!! that's the kind of stuff an artist likes to hear!! ![]() |
| #23KamelionSep 12, 2008 19:38:54 | Kamelion, Excellent - thanks! Russian fella asked to use my stuff on his site, but he never got back to me, most odd. Richly deserved ![]() Didn't you make a quicktime 360-degree view of the arena at Tyr as well, bck in the day? I'm sure I have that somewhere. I recall showing it to my players right before we played the end sequence of Freedom. ("You are here and the gaj is about here...") |
| #24baneofelvesSep 12, 2008 22:54:51 | baneofelves, Nah, I'll be fine. I go prepared. Rocket launchers, wands of meteor storm, tanks, I'm coming prepared. I'm taking an army with me. I feel sorry for anything dumb enough to get in my way. :D |
| #25Silverblade_The_EnchanterSep 13, 2008 7:41:03 | kamelion, *bows* ![]() Aye I did! I forgot to add that into my Dark Sun section, doh! old though and not very good, takes time to learn how to do this stuff good ;) http://www.silverblades-suitcase.com/artofadreamer/3d/arena4.mov alas, Quicktime screwed something up in 7.4 and can't view that on my art PC, sigh. baneofelves, Ah! a RICH target, yummy! ;) |
| #26RalofTyrJun 08, 2009 17:43:26 | Nice pics. Found them while searching for Dark Sun Maps. How much did your programs cost and how much time did it take you to learn them? Though, those pics reminds me of Athas' astronomical situation. The Astronomer in me says that Athas' two moons cannot exist in a stable orbit and one will be ejected or they'll merge into one moon. Even the existence of a large moon that close would cause 100' tides so massive that they would flood coastal areas. And if the Dark Sun is a star in giant phase, you need to add a zero to all the temperatures on Athas, 1350F. Any water would boil into the atmosphere and eventually, the atmosphere would boil off. Athas would resemble Venus. Also, massive amounts of dust should be ejected from Athas' sun, causing a planetary nebula. There would be no night time on Athas. Also, the auroras would be spectacular, if Athas' dynamo hasn't shut down and it has a magnetic field. If it has shut down, the surface would be subjected to lethal radiation and radiation falling like snow on the surface. |
| #27Silverblade_The_EnchanterJun 08, 2009 21:50:15 | Thank you! ![]() as you cna see on here and my site, I've added more since this was posted. http://www.silverblades-suitcase.com/darksun/index.htm I've spent a LOT of money on art :p Then again I've spent a lot of money on D&D too! They are about all I spend on anyway as I have no life, lol. Don't be scared by the costs, ANY hobby tends ot cost an arm and a leg if you get right into it, see mountain climbing, car restoring, following yer fave football team live at venues, you name it. But you get a lto out of 'em ![]() My current apps are: Vue 7.5 Infinite (About $900 if you bought it) I started with Vue 5 Pro Studio 5? or so years ago and upgraded since then. Upgrading apps saves big pile of cash, especially if you're smart/lucky and get it at right time. Usually get -30% off when first released for short period, and upgrades are a lot less than full price Vue 6 to vue 7 upgrade is $400 or so. For example, I snagged the Maxwell renderer in it's "alpha" testing phase, long before final release, so got it as a fraction of normal cost, $350 I think...but they never brought out the Vue plugin for it they promised back then, which is large part of why I bought it, grrrr! maxwell can render out images that look absolutely real. Often used for architecture, I use it for model making, to check it all works etc. So my pcis with it are basic. You can use Maxwell with many other programs, I use it form inside RHino. |
| #28delerakJun 11, 2009 22:46:12 | Brilliant stuff. I looked at the Gates of Elysium. Wow. Also your Crodlu Rider pic has to be one of the best you've done! Love the psychic blast. PS: Cool dog. |
| #29Silverblade_The_EnchanterJun 12, 2009 10:08:43 | Delerak, cheers bud! ![]() Oh yeah that Gates of Elysium pic is absolutely amazing!!! Thank you! I love old novel covers from 60s and 70s, and like trying for that kind of look, ya know? bit of a spoiler..the psychic blast effect is done in photoshop and not that hard to do if you ever wanna know how ;) Alas my wee pal had to be put to sleep 3 weeks ago. Best dog I have ever had, incredibly loving and smart, almost 14 years old he was. Dogs are wonderful ![]() |
