It feels weird to ask this question, but: any idea on the going rate for a slave on Athas?

I can't find a good price list from any sourse I own.

I would venture to say it's dependent upon the "use" of said slave.

General Laborers would be a dozen coins, where upon a concubine of great beauty or virginity could fetch hundreds.

Gladiators would be worth a dozen coins per successful arena match.

Non-human slaves could add multipliers for certain jobs. Elven Concubines may be worth more then human, Mul Gladiators are certainly more prized the humans.

Maybe I'll create a chart for the community to peach.

Sep 08, 2010 11:54:57 Well I don't believe that was even covered in the prior editions, but I imagine the price would vary wildly dependant on the perceived value of the slave. A famous slave gladiator would cost a fortune, while a troublesome wasteland youth might go rather cheap.

Sep 08, 2010 11:56:43 I do recall having read a few times that a steel dagger is worth quite a bit more than a slave, so that's something to go on. I'm sure that's for a common laborer, though...

Completely depends on the type of slave and the condition of the slave. You'd also have to factor in how much it would cost to keep that single slave alive to do the work you assigned.

Sep 08, 2010 23:48:10 Mongoose Press' Conan rpg books have nice prices for slaves. Depends on level and ability scores. Race and stuff would factor in, too.
