| #1Adamaro23Aug 18, 2010 0:11:37 | I'm finally getting the Campaign Setting tomorrow (along with the Deserts of Athas Dungeon Tiles), and I'm super hyped for the "new" setting. As a result, I've been reading every article that's about Dark Sun, and even read the "Blood Oasis" short story (which I kinda liked). But I have a question that may be relevant to my upcoming game about the Dragon's Altar article. It mentions the whispers heard in the caves leading to the sacrifice area are not of the dead, but actually a tribe of humans who attempt to save the new sacrifices by luring them into the caves. According tot he article, they emerge sometimes and overthrow the templars leading the slaves, assuming their numbers aren't too large. My question is how do the sorcerer-kings react? They send their templars to lead slaves there to appease the Dragon, and sometimes their templars do not return. Do they simply not care due to how many templars they have following them, that missing ten or so every now and then don't matter? I could see the last one, were it not for the fact that this seems like a big deal to the sorcerer-kings. These are sacrifices they wanted to happen to appease the uber-powerful Dragon. If their templars don't return, how do they know if their sacrifices made it there? They don't. In the case that a sorcerer-king did get curious, and sent a larger force of templars to search the area, why have the tribe that lives in the tubes/caves not been discovered/eliminated? My campaign may involve this tribe, and I'd like to know if there are any answers. Or even suggestions on what the sorcerer-kings "may" do, as I'm not sure if this locale has been touched upon before back in 2e. |
