Hey everyone,

Just looking for some backup on the size of Kalak's Ziggurate. Using the scale of 1 inch = 150 feet on the 4E Tyr city map, the ziggurat measures 1200 feet on the long side and 900 feet on the short side.

My question is, how tall is it? I would guesstimate around 300 feet tall, give or take a few?

According to what I've been able to find, the largest Ziggurat ever constructed ( in re life mind you ) was roughly 1400ft by 1400ft with a height of 217 feet.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Pyramid_of_C... for referance

Now, the Great Pyramid at Giza was about 755 ft a side with a height of 480ft when it was constructed.

I don't think that anywhere in either the 2nd edition or the 4th edition books that it actually gives a size, though I thought I remembered something about the ramp being 400 feet.

Also, using the scale of the 4E tyr map again, the gladitorial arena is fricken humongous and could easily fit the entire 15,000 population of tyr inside it.

Anyone have any other opinions?

Also remember that Kalak's ziggurat increases in size when he gets worked up.

I think, after doing a little bit more reserach and looking at the drawing again that I'm going to go with...

The arena being about 150 feet tall. This corrosponds easily with how large the actual Roman Colosseum is in actuality.

Looking at the small scale drawing on the 4E Tyr map, the Ziggurat is about roughly 3x the height of the arena itself, which would put it at around 450 feet tall. This would make it about as high as the Pyramid of Giza is in real life.

The scale is huge, but given what it took and the time involved, its possible.

Also don't forget Egyptians did not have psionics & spells to help them build, so something on a bigger scale in Tyr is totally conceivable.
