5 epic destinies. Pyreen is one of them. So Devas won't be them. Guess the rest is Dragon, Avangion and Elemental.

The last one must be more matial I guess or linked to the order.

No Elemental unfortunately.

Avangion, Dragon, Hoardmaster (whatever that is), Mindlord of the Order (sounds familiar but can't place it), Pyreen.

I'm guessing that was from the Mindlords of the last sea.

It's kind of a... depressing epic destiny however.  The mindlords of the last sea were powerful psionicists who gave themselves a sort of psionic immortality; they trapped their minds in obsidian orbs.  Their minds have slowly degraded with the passage of years, too.  I am guessing they wanted a psionic epic destiny, and the Mindlords I believe are the most powerful psionicists on Athas.  Enough to rival the SK's, anyway.

I wonder of Hoardmaster is a typo.  I can see Hordemaster being an epic destiny (lead the slave tribes in revolt kinda thing).  It might be a "you become a filthy rich dune trader and start your own trading house" epic destiny.

Can somebody tell me whether the Thri-Kreen racial is Minor or Standard already? The RPG.net thread told us everything mechanically about that power except what sort of action it was.

You could always try reading other threads on this very board, just half a page down.  *

The thri-kreen racial power is actually a minor action.

I have read that thread. I even posted in it. I don't know who that Rodney guy is or where here's getting his info, so his input meaningless to me, especially because his response didn't include any sort of reference or reasoning.

... no, probably not. I don't have the slightest clue what type of action it takes. But he has a picture of himself as his avatar so he seems credible.

That is him right?

It could be the Mindlords of the last sea, but i see it far more likely to be a member of the Order, the group of Psionicists that kept a sort of balance and order of Psionics on Athas. I believe they were first covered in the 2nd ed Dark Sun Psionics Books (Can't remember the name of it off hand, and I don;t have my collection near by...)

edit: Just remembered the name of the book.. The Will and the Way.

I'm gonna screw you up totally by telling you that, despite his WOTC prefix and 'RPG Designer' notation and WotC symbol, he's actually a car salesman from Tennessee who dabbles in RPG internet board trolling.

Now you won't know what to believe! Mwaaahahaha!

Well, considering that no WotC employee posts on a WotC forum section that they have no involvment with (ie MtG people on DnD baords), at least not under their WotC names, that I've ever seen, I'd think it's safe to assume he knows what he's talking about when it comes to DnD.

Then what was with the "You're welcome"?

Call it a midwestern thing.

When someone says "you're welcome" without the recipient having said "thank you" it is a reminder that perhaps the speaker feels the recipient should have said "thank you" for something.

In this case, the whole minor/standard thing had been something of a hotbutton issue for you and a few other posters for some time now.  At least a week.

5 Days ago, WOTC_Rodney took the time out of his day to confirm your belief.  I didn't notice that you noticed it, so I *bump*ed the thread for you.

Today I notice that somehow that post had escaped your attention.  So I direct your attention to it, and my response was:

"You miss posts #9 and #11? I don't know who that is."

Which is understandable, given that you were unaware of what the WOTC_ prefix means, but it still rang a little cold.

If you would like to criticize me for not noticing previous posts where you had said you didn't know what WOTC_ meant, I can return the criticism by mentioning that when I bumped the thread I also said "*bump*ing for WOTC answer.  Laughing"

WOTC obviously stands for Wizards of The Coast, the publishers of 4th edition D&D.

In fact, when I pointed this thread out to you in this thread, I said,

"WOTC_Rodney confirmed in the thread linked above that it was a minor action. "

'Confirmed' is usually a word reserved for official confirmations.

You will have to forgive me for not recognizing your problem with WOTC_Rodney's post, but it also would have been nice if you had acknowledged when I, and others have tried to bring this to your attention, seeing as this has been an important issue for you.

So if you don't think anybody deserves a "thank you", then don't say it.  We are all adults here.

I'm off to bed.  Good night.

Simple misunderstanding. "*bump*ing for WOTC answer" doesn't sound to me like "I'm bumping this because we got a WOTC answer". It sounds to me like "I'm bumping this to see if I can get a WOTC answer", to which I simply thought "Good luck getting that".

And people throw the word "confirmed" around all of the time. I don't take it seriously anymore without something real to back it up, and all I saw was a guy saying that it was a minor action with nothing at all to back it up.

As for the missing "thank you", I didn't thank anybody because I figured it out for myself in post #11 and because the following posters (other than Neutronium_Dragon, of course, whom I do thank) corrected me in ways that I perceived to be rather condescending. After this, you coming out of nowhere and posting a simple "you're welcome" after you had done nothing else in this thread other than quote me without reading my two previous posts sounded rather rude.

For the misunderstanding, I apologize.

It's interesting to know that's apparently a "midwestern" thing.

In any case, I'd like to say that while it's good to have information like this (the Dark Sun books), something that isn't a published article or a WotC employee post won't be making it into my information sticky. And since it's coming from the actual books, that feels like cheating, anyways. Soon I should probably reorganize that post, since as it is now it's just been a way for me to sort the steady stream of previews. The time of scrambling for scraps of information will soon be at an end!

I agree. If feels like a spoiler... I don't really know why.

After the campaign is released, the information sources sticky would be nice to have around. It can be updated when articles on Dark Sun are published in Dragon or Dungeon (or during Events...), or anything else related to Dark Sun (like novels). Just a nice communial resource for n00bs or reference for us.

Ha, 'WotC employee under fire for drunkenly leaving a prototype copy of the Dark Sun Campaign Guide in a sports bar'.

Fortunately, the other sports bar patrons didn't know what it was, and the secret is safe... for now.

judging from what I have read over there, Dregoth is in the monster book, and the Dragon is level 33.  I'm getting excited, even though I doubt I'll ever play.

Interesting to note that the Cleansing Wars are included, however briefly.

I'm a bit disappointed that Borys is "just" a lvl 33 solo; more importantly, I was expecting something else than Controller. Given the liberty of the solo design, I would have rather seen him as a Soldier or Brute, or even Artillery. I hope he's faithful to the "maddened force of nature" imagery; he should have powerful magic and psionics, but I hardly see him fighting like a Controller.

By the way, if anyone is interested, I'm almost done with a writeup of Nibenay as solo. I'll probably post him tonight.

Agreed, but I'm probably doing my own writeup of Borys anyways, so WotC's version doesn't matter.
And please, I'd like to see your take on the Shadow King.

I'm guessing "Mindlord" is just used for "hey, this psionicist is really good" and that it's related to The Order, rather than any Last Sea weirdness.
