Hi folks. I am about to play as a thri kreen in a adventure for third level and i am finding a hard time to find motivations to a thri kreen to go to a urban enviroment willingly. Thri kreen are a nomadic race that dont value material possesions. Our Dm argued that looking for trading iron would be a plausable cause, but since they got that special crystal which they use to make their signature weapon I am out of ideas.
Any Sugestions?

Ah YES a Kreen cultural question!
First off Gandrel, yes Kreen are a nomadic people but they still partake in trade amongst the sleepers. In Raam there is a standing population of Thri-Kreen, they are called the Raam-tek and number between hundreds to a thousand.

By saying "Special Crystal", you mean Dsal or "Reverent Crystal", then yes they do normally make their weaponry out of it if they have the proper craft skill - but metal is metal. Even still the Dsal is not made from nothingness, there are components other than the venomous saliva of the Kreen - Zik-thok being the most important (Trans: "Changes Earth" (the herb that allows the creation of Dasl)) that may be purchased in various cities, plus there is the choice of the last main ingredient: sand. While in a hurry any old sand will do, but Chatkcha alone have a more personal significance, something of a cultural icon never to be seen in the hands of a sleeper-meat-beast so the choice of sand may become important to the individual, say the sand from some great battle location – like the sands of an arena.

A couple of other reasons to enter into a city, a lone Thri-Kreen are just that, alone. Kreen have their clutch mentality that forces them to want to be part of larger groups, even if that group is made-up of sleepers (the kreen term for humanoids) also Thri-Kreen will sell their services as guards, warriors or gladiators. Lastly, what kind of Thri-Kreen does your player have, elf-addicted yet – there are always tasty elves in cities!

Wow! Great info here ! Thanks Phoenix M. I didnt know about these herbs, the Zik Thok, required to made the Dsal. As for the motivations of my character, no I dont want make the typical elf eater. I will play the "normal" Thri kreen. My kreen that values its small comunity and will trade with the humans only for the Zik Thok, since, strangely they arent finding any. Thanks to my stats, I am probably te stronger warrior around and gonna be sent to a capital city to trade some pelts or any service for teh Zik Thok.
The sugested motivation of my DM, looking for iron, sounded very dumb.

Oh yeah, another question: the natural tendency of a thri kreen is lawnful or neutral?

Oh yeah, another question: the natural tendency of a thri kreen is lawnful or neutral?

Lawful, Thri-Kreen have ordered minds with a strong belief of family bonds.
The requirements of a clutch transcend alignment. Thri-kreen might be good or evil, lawful or chaotic, but the thri-kreen still behaves the same way toward clutch and clutchmates. Regardless of the thri-kreen’s true alignment, behavior toward clutch and clutchmates is essentially lawful good. This is one of the reasons why other races consider thri-kreen unpredictable, whether they are truly chaotic or not; a thri-kreen that behaves one way with clutchmates might behave in a strikingly different manner with others.

You really should try and find a copy of the "Thri-Kreen of Athas" game supplement.

EDIT:
Oh and to answer your second post, Thri-Kreen make real good rangers. As for PrC's check out the two "Prestige Classes" PDF's from Athas.com. There are a few Kreen-based ones in them.

Thanks yashugan00, I've been a fan of the Kreen sense their first appearance in Fiend Folio back in the mid-eighties, well before Dark-Sun. They’re what initially drew me to the setting.

Correction. Kreen appeared in the 1st edition Monster Manual II, not the Fiend Folio. ;)

I like simple explainations. Reason for Kreen to go to city.
1. Why not?
2. Its there.

And NOBODY is going to tell a Thri-Kreen where he can and cannot go in Zardnaar's game.

I'm not that bad. Kreen are sentient. Theres no reason why one couldn't visit a city just because its there.
