bear with me, I am trying to upload two new monsters, and am having a hard time with it.  I hope you can see these.... I am not very computer savvy.  These are flavored Gith for the remake of Raiders of the Chanth that I am doing and plan to post for you all.  Any help in how to post anything, and do assume that i am a computer idiot.

Here goes.....oh any feedback on the actual monsters would be awesome.
I posted these by printing them from Monster builder, scanning them, uploading them to my profile, and posting them here.  I hope they end up legible....

It normally takes a while for people to comment on monsters. Don't take it personally.

Some comments on the psyker:

Mental Marrionete: the sustain standard is a little weird. It's weird that a sustain only allows them to repeat the attack, rather than just maintain the domination.

Psychic Shriek: Why the limit on amount of hit points recovered per round? This would only be an issue if there was more than one Psyker. Typically, though, you don't use more than one leader in an encounter. I see it as a non issue.

Thought Projection: I don't see the need for this power. A dm can just say that the psyker communicates something telepathically to its allies. This is completely roleplaying power, and I don't know if it is required in the stat block. Maybe in the Psyker's write-up you can say that it often communicates telepathically with its allies. Or, add Telepathy 5 in it's language section. In fact, the power you wrote up is identical to Telepathy 5. Simpler is better. Go with Telepathy.

Clean up the Free action "new power".

I like mental bastion.

I like the Soulknife. I would probably have gone about the soulknife mechanic differently.

I don't really think you even need the 'Conjure Soulblade' power. Their throw power is a Recharge power, which is already flavored as needing to have some time before uses. It's already built with the sense that the Gith has to regenerate the power, ie, conjure a new blade.

Also, if the 'Conjure Soulblade' is a free action, there really isn't any limit on expending it. Effectively cancelling out the need to put "this expends the soulblade" on each soulblade power. I would get rid of 'Conjure Soulblade' and remove the "soulblade is expended" from the powers.

The Psychic Blade is a little uninspired. This is their quintessential power. Add some psychic damage. You have it labeled with the psychic tag, but it is unclear that it actually does psychic damage. The new standard is to make it explicit what type of damage it does. If it doesn't indicate a type, it does normal damage by default. Like, (1d10+6 damage plus 5 psychic damage and the target is marked until the end of the gith soulknife's next turn.)

Hmmm, while they are prettier, they are also smaller..... I still need to make the images larger for you to see.  These are now PNT files from a PDF writer.  How can I make them bigger?

Rollawaythestone:  Thanks for the feedback.

Mental Marrionette came from the DSCC psionic adept theme, I agree with you.  It is confusing... perhaps simply making it sustain standard to continue the domination is a good idea.

Psychic Shreik was adapted from the Witherling Death Shrieker, p 212 MM2.  I basically used the power as written, but I think you are right.

Thought Projection, I didn't know I could add telepathy 5 to languages, so I will go back to do that.

I knew I needed to clean up the free action section on the psyker, I will get on that, easy fix.

Well, I will edit these and see how I can get them posted better for you all.

Rollaway the stone, I must of have missed that about the psychic blade, I meant to do that  exactly as you stated.  I felt the Gith needed a soldier class for my adventure.  I also thought about making the soulknife a skirmisher, but sigh, I only have so many ideas.  I really wanted to capture some of the Soulknife PC class from 3E with the conjure soulblade, but again, you are right, it is unnecessary.  I will get those edits done.

If you go to your public gallery and view one of your images you can see that right below the image is a link to "View full-size image". Click on this, and use the url from this image view to imbed the image into your post.

I'm glad you like my feedback. I love the Gith, and these are two cool monsters.

Hey, if i get better at this, the sooner we all get the new adventure, or the rewritten adventure anyhow.
well, edited 9/17/10 here are the new versions that everyone asked talked about, using the techniques i have mastered so far.  NOW if I could only get them side by darn side.  Thanks for all the feedback so far.

Since a lot of people have difficulty linking images that look good, and that are easy to view without extraneous clicking...here's how to pull it off.

Create a screen cap of each stat block, and save each individually in Profile/Photos. Edit your first post on this thread and go to Insert/Edit Image. On another new page load Profile/Photos, and right click on the photo and choose Copy Link, then paste it into Insert/Edit Image on the first page, then click OK. Then press Enter twice to give you two lines of space and do it all a second time for the second image. Before you accept the changes to the post, preview it to make changes if need be. The result is a normal sized image, no skewing, one above the other, with no need to click on it to make it bigger.

Hey OneWeirdCat, you're improving with the images! A suggestion would be to crop them (in paint you just drag the borders of the image) so that the image is not wider than the stat block. This way the forums will not resize them when you post them, and you can display them nicely without links to bigger versions.

Also, how the hell did you get that incredibly big first images you posted? :D I couldn't find a way to get them so big myself!

About the monsters, I think the psycher is quite right, while the soulknife is rather weak as a defender, because it can punish its mark only one time per encounter! It should be at-will or at least Recharge 4 5 6.
Also, compare the damages of your monsters with the ones of creatures of the same level in Monster Manual 3 or Dark Sun Creature Catalog. The new standard is higher than the one of Monster Manual 1 and 2, and the Monster Builder probably still uses the old standard... So maybe you should bump the damage a bit. Don't know, I haven't checked myself... (lazy! :P )

LordArchaon: I physically printed the images from monster builder, then scanned them, then uploaded them to my profile, then posted them to the page.  Cumbersome to say the least.

The Soulknife does seem underpowered, i will have to make augment the mark a recharge power 4,5,6 to keep the damage output higher.

I will look at comparable monster damages as you suggested n change them as necessary.

The bitch of it all is, I realize that I need a Gith Skirmisher too that is not a minion to take advantage of an encounter, not the soldier, but i will make use of the soldier.......  So look for that soon too.  Really, trying to follow Randy Maxwell's "Raiders of the Chanth" and rework it to 4E is kinda a bitch.... it would be sooooo much easier just to plunk in appropriate monsters to the level, but sigh, that is how we ended up with Maruaders of the Dune Sea.

Upgraded the Gith above, right below the links that i posted.  The links probably don't work anymore.  Soon I will rule at this!!  Maybe not inventing monsters, but posting them!  Fear ME!

Do I have a disease that nobody reads what I post? Looks like either everyone skipped over it or has me in their ignore list. Post #7 explains how to successfuly pull off an image posting. No need to resize, or having to click on the linked image to make it bigger.

Slight problem Pennarin:
I have NO IDEA how to do a screen cap.  I messaged you about it, but you didn't respond which i can understand.  As the screen cap was the 1st piece of the process in your advice, you can understand how i couldn't implement it.  I reread it a few times to see if i could figure it out.
I do thank you for the advice, now ANYONE, how do I do go about creating a screen cap so i can post monsters and get feedback on the monster and not the method of how I post?  I appreciate both by the way.

You don't need to do a screen cap. Go to the Monster Builder. Right click your entry. Click Save As - IMAGE. Open MSPaint. Hit CTRL+V once you've opened a new paint file to paste your monster entry. Save file as jpeg. Then follow Pennarin's steps.

Sorry for the lack of response. I'm at work, using sucky IE6, so can't answer PMs. A screen cap is done by pressing Print Screen on the top right of your keyboard. It does a Copy of your screen - a "screen capture" - that you can then paste into Paint. In Paint use the little square thingy symbol to select a rectangle-shaped section of the image, then right click in your selection and select Crop...which removes the surrounding image. The you Save it as JPEG to your Desktop. That's what you upload to Profile/Images on the WotC site. It's clean and efficient.

This is very helpful if you want to capture anything else than a Monster Builder entry, albeit it works even for that. I use it with Word, as all my monster stat blocks do not use Monster Builder (it's way cleaner that way and easily editable, as Monster Builder makes a lot of mistakes).

Psyker

We are Gith!: Haha, but unless you want gith to be like kobolds and goblins - often the comic relief amongst 4e monsters - choose a serious name ;)

Mental Marionette: New name too, as gith are not known for masterminds. Maybe...Urge of the Horde? The fluff can say they impart on their enemies the impulses of a gith, or something.

Soulknife

I wouldn't call it a soulknife, too 3e...but that's me.

Psychic Blade: So is it 2d6 +4 damage plus 5 psychic damage, or ... ?

Shield Push: The terminology is also skewed. Is this an artifact from Monster Builder? Should say "1d10 + 3 damage, and the target ..."

Throw the Blade: Psychic Throw would be better, and works in tandem with Psychic Blade, as far as names go.

Augment the Mark: Would be better as Augmented Mark or Augment Mark. The 2d6 extra psychic damage is odd. I do not believe such a power exists as written. If need be just add the damages together, something like 4d6.

Pennarin, thanks for your feedback!

Pysker yeah, I am a snarky bastard, We Are Gith needs a new name.  Mental Marionette comes from Monster Themes at the Back of DSCC, but I can easily rename it.  Gith in 2E were VERY psioinic, it just kinda reflects that, but i can haul him more back to 4E.  I love the Gith as foes, but I adore Goblin and Kobold humor just the same.

Soulknife any suggestions for a new name?  "Gith Psychic Warrior/Trooper"  again, very 3e.
Psychic blade: gonna halfta look at that again
Shield Push: no I made that up, using Tide of Iron as a basis (which I adored for my guardian fighter) so I will clean up the language.
Throw the Blade: yeah, Psychic throw makes more sense.
Augment the mark: is again based off something from the Monster Themes in DSCC, I just didn't think thru how to add the extra damage, but I will fix it.

Well everyone, thanks for so much constructive criticism on my first two new monsters for 4E, looks like just some fluff and renaming and clarifying and these two suckas, and they are in the pike.

@OneWeirdCat: Did you get my PM explaining how to copy a monster from the MB as an image?
